I just saw what was easily the single most retarded PR stunt, ever! A bunch of PGA Tour Pros celebrated the PGA's switch from wooden tee's to the more environmentally biodegradable ones, BY BUYING WOODEN ONES, STICKING THEM IN A CRATE AND HAVING A "BOSTON TEE PARTY" BY DUMPING THE CRATE INTO THE BOSTON HARBOR. Hel-****ing-lo? Am I the only one who sees the idiocy in this act? ARGH!!!

who committed these acts....

I agree, though, imagine all the water, fertilizer, gasoline, smog, and garbage is created/used to keep golf courses green. People do not undersand that this is not Ireland/Scotland, and the grass is not supposed to be emerald green all the time...

If you think this is foolish, consider whom committed these acts, a bunch of old men who hit a tiny ball around a large piece of land that has been developed just for their hobby. I hate golf and everything it stands for.

Yes, like most people in the world, the growing concern for me is the golf tees that have been turning the world into a barren wasteland. Oh the humanity. :/sarcasm:

Not, sure, it was just a momentary, here's something completely pointless news story. As far as the biodegradable ones, I think the idea is is since they aren't made of wood they don't was trees having to cut them down for something so wantonly wasted.

I see the ironic pointlessness of it.

I have a question, were these tees specifically purchased new for this occasion, or were they simply surplus from the PGA's pre-existing stocks?

If the latter is true, then it makes a hell of a lot more sense.

If not, then I'm not trying to defend the stunt.

Personally I think changing from wooden to "biodegradable" (what does wood do? Anyone?) is a bit of a stupid stunt to begin with. I don't know of any terrible plauge of wooden golf tees clogging our environment.

lol. i think its great that they switched to a more environmentally freindly brand, but buying a bunch of wooden ones and dumping them in the ocean is just stupid, not to mention bad for the environment. i find it really dumb when people are against something (like harry potter books, dixie chicks CDs, wooden golf pegs, ect.) and the go and buy a bunch of them and burn/dump them, i mean, your supporting whatever your against by going out and buying humdreds of them to distroy.

Are you seriously trying to tell me you don't see the retardation in that act? And it's not the dropping them in the ocean thing, its wood, thats not going to kill the environment, its that they're going out and buying wooden tees to celebrate non-wooden ones (because you don't chop down trees that way). Come on.

It might be idiocy if the tees wouldn't break down in a month anyway. What they did caused no more damage than a tree falling in the water would do.
