I recycle a LOT! I actually get on just about everyone's (mom and step dad's) nerves because I take it so seriously. I think America needs to do a LOT more than recycle thoyugh. We need to conserve energy and we definitley need solar and wind power. I hope this country learns before its too late.

I wouldn't say so much as "cared", but maybe if more people "understood" the situation that the environment is in.

It's ironic that the human race exerts such considerable effort to locate other habitable planets while being so hellbent on destroying the habitability of our own planet.

If everyone cared, there would still be arguements. Nothing can be totally conformist. That idea itself is lurking chaos ready to 'splode. o.o; x_x; BOOM.

i didnt feel like reading the entire thread, so someone prob already said this, but the earth is something that people take for granted. its always been here, and it seems like it will always be here. but Jesus will come back, or the sun will explode, then we wont have to worry about it.

taboo, you have to face it. No offense, but everybody will never care about the environment.

If I were you, I'd stop posting and start doing!

You can make a difference, even though no one else might.

hey, i dont like to read, so i didnt check what u people wrote before, but the government doesnt really care about the earth, it may seem like they do, but they dont! they could be running the hydrogen/electric cars right now, but the only reason they r making them is cuz DEQ or w/e is making them. they actuly cost more to make then they r selling them for. james (me) knows this stuff cuz his dad works on them. the hydrogen cars r going to be good, but extreemly weird. and if the government was smart, they would be converting all cars over to corn oil or propane. beacuse they have that technology right now, and some poeple have done it already, but its beacuse the governemnt makes money off the gas and desoil that they dont want to do hydrogen or propane. well yeah thats all i have to say. so HATE THE GOVERNMENT CUZ THEY SUCK THE BIG JUCIE WEINER! yeah, im out! i <3 u bexy. you r my one and only sweetness

Maybe they will if there is an urgent need to. Apparently, other matters are taking the limelight such as abortion, poverty and the sort. Thus, I doubt taking care of the environment is in the top ten priorities.

quote:

Wouldn't it be nice if we were older
Then we wouldn't have to wait so long
And wouldn't it be nice to live together
In the kind of world where we belong

So those are the lyrics to the song. When I first looked at the thread I just had "Wouldn't it be nice" repeating over and over in my head. It was terrible.

i didn't mean that. i meant like how some people say we don't need certain animals on earth because they don't do anything for it, but actually, they do. and i agree with you too.

ummm...how exacly are environmentalists keeping us dependant on oil from overseas? most environmentalists are strongly againt the war and our dependancy on oil and other fossil fuels.

I care about the enviroment. I wish more people did tho. I think it is horrible when people or big buisnesses do things like pollute our air and water and log important forrests. Esso/Exonmoble is REALLY bad for the environment, I forget the site, but it explans why and what they do there. its somewhere on an off site of greenpeace.

I'm an "environmentalist". Yes, it's my job, but even if it wasn't I would still care about the environment. It's blind to think "stop trying to save the planet! I need oil for my car!" There are other alternatives to the things that damage our environment, but nobody will promote those because humans by nature are greedy, and there's no money to be made by promoting a car that runs on hydrogen or vegetable oil or something that's readily available.

Look, the changes that you are seeking will not happen in a bunch of small steps, but rather in a giant leap, like those Hydrogen Cars (as oposed to a buncch of people bikes).

In the mean time enviromentalists need to quit tring to take jobs away from factory workers and keeping us dependant on the Saudis by stopping us from searching for oil in the far north.

Well at least we can at least day dream about it. *sigh*

I agree. And someday people that destroy the environment on a daily basis will wake up and say oops we're gonna die because of this. I mean the very simple example of trees. Basic science, trees produce O2 for us to breathe and we produce CO2 for them to breath. Kill all the trees or even all the trees in just one area and you have a problem. Also with the superior animals thing I agree with you EarthGoddess. Every animal has their survival trait. Humans have intellegence. If you took that away we'd probably have been extinct by now. Oh and one last thing. Rainforests are vastly uncharted and unstudied. Scientests estimate that everytime you destroy one square mile of rainforest you destroy millions of unrecorded life forms ranging from backteria to mammalian life. For all anyone knows those bacteria could be our cure to cancer or aids. Anyways just thought I'd add on.

i hate how so many people are worried about how we are going to find more oil and how much they can charge for it, when we should be focusing on how can we not depend on oil so much. We definatly don't have an infinate amount so in the near future, don't say I didn't warn you that we are too dependant on oil and not enough on unlimited power like solar power or water or wind power. So when the world goes wonky over the end of oil, don't say i didn't tell you so!
