Do you recycle all the time and every product that you should? Yes? No? Why or why not? What is your take on people that never do recycle? Do you make an effort on buying products that are made from recycled material?

(note that i mean the stuff we buy ourselves) That's a good idea but some of the plastics used in water bottles actually break down over time. So they shouldn't be reused... but if someone had a bottle (say a nalgene bottle) that was more sturdy it might be safe. As far as recycling goes, I think mor people migt do it if it was easy. Some people just don't care... they chuck paper in the trash just bc a recycling bin isn't right nex to it.

My friend is a chemistry major and insists that the amount of energy it takes to transport and then reprocess materials outweighs the negative environmental impact of dumping it all in a landfill.

If recycling is actually "saving the environment".

That's a shame, saving the environment shouldn't cost any money.

We didn't use to recycle because they charged an arm and a leg for the service, but now they made it free, so we are sure to recycle as much as we can.

I agree. I am a citizen of the Great State of Colorado and we care about our environment here as well. I don't like litter or pollution. But I am in favor of drilling for shale oil here in my state. I love the environment but would never want to be considered and enviromentalist.

I am in complete agreement with you. It is silly. If one wants to recycle good for them, I don't want to. I shouldn't have to and I shouldn't be berated for it.

Absolutely ridiculous...particularly for a family that fills up their orange recycling bin every week.

The Republican state of Alaska is in favor of drilling in ANWR. I might recycle if it didn't cost more and take more effort to do. Until then I will continue to throw out all of my "recyclables" in the garbage. Why not? By the way, littering and not recycling are not the same thing. Littering means you have not pride in the community. Low income areas of cities have very bad litter problems because no one cares. If there are already holes in windows, abandoned cars, graffiti everywhere, and hookers all around, there is no incentive to throw away your trash in a trash can.

Yes on all applicable questions.
My take? Well I remember this one time when I was sitting in the car with our driver (we need one), and we were talking about how the Jordanian public needs to start cleaning-up. I was saying, "We're improving," and to prove my point, I pointed-out a guy who'd stopped next to a public trash can, when the idiot finished-up his can and threw it in the other direction. Like, the garbage can was on his left, and he was standing right next to it, but nooooo, he threw his cola to the right.
People who can recycle but don't bother moving their ass to do so are idiots.

You do realize you can be a conservative while caring about the environment, right? Ever live in the Republican state of Alaska? quote: but, I'm pretty sure they clean off the rust and put the metal in a forge with the rest of the steel that's already mined.

srry for the extra post, but I forgot to answer the other questions in my last. 2. For other people who don't recycle i could care less because they can do whatever they want. BUT, people who throw trash on the ground for no good reason is one thing i hate. I mean come on, your making the place we live in into the place where we put the trash in the end. 3. No, i don't really make much of an effort to buy things that are already made from recycled material either. I don't really care that much. Besides, half of the stuff we buy is probably made of recycled material. Even cars. You know that shiny body the new cars have? Those are probably made of old rusted car bodies that make up our junkyards. But that's kinda good, isn't it? less metal to rot in the junkyard. Reading this you're probably thinking that these rusted car bodies probably weaken the metal. but, I'm pretty sure they clean off the rust and put the metal in a forge with the rest of the steel that's already mined. thank you for your time.
