So, I've been doing super well this summer on not using oil!! I ride my bike everywhere I go, which is school, the library, and ceramics class (I'm rocking throwing pots and bowls on the wheel).
I saw a Hummer a few days ago with a "I heart my Carbon Footprint" bumper sticker on it. It made me want to vomit. And guess what, it also had a "Bring Home Our Troops" sticker on it. That made made laugh.
The way for consumers to show demand is to buy things not standing out on a public highway (which I think is illegal). You liberals are so silly.
Thank you for that steriotype Bush. For the record, I agree with you in that the best way to move forward on this particular issue is to control what we ourselves (or our parents, or friends) buy.

Bushsupporter, I can't buy a car yet. Chances are this chain can't happen either. But that doesn't mean that I can't take action against things that are wrong.
And there was a demand for electric cars. But for some reason unknow to m, they destroted them.
SUV sales are going down, though. Gas will have to hit 5 dollars a galllon before poeple will really start changing the way they live.

This is a market economy, if you want more fuel efficient cars, buy them and don't by other ones. Toyota and Honda realized through buying trends that people wanted hybrids and better cars, so they made them. Thus American companies failed and are still failing. It didn't take a "human chain" It is so easy to show your preferences in a market economy.

We watched "Who Killed the Electric Car?" today in school. It made me so mad. And then I talked to my jerky friends about it. Either they didn't care, they fell asleep while watching it, or they said that the electric car was a dumb I idea in the first place. I get a temper, and stand up for my opinions very quickly. So soon I was yelling and having a crazy arguement with about 5 other girls. After a few minutes I just walked away before I got so upset that I would say something really stupid.
Sure, I'd love to join you're human chain. I just hope other people do. No one at my school seems to care.
After watching "WHO KILLED THE ELECTRIC CAR?" I took it to heart that the consumers were part of the problem. That we didn't show our demand for the vehicles. Therefore I suggest that all people in favor of protecting the health of the environment, join together and make human chains on the interstates, across the united states, and show our demand. In addition to our demand we can show the different, projects that we are involved with to make this planet greener and more blue.
I was actually hoping to get EVERYONE on board with my idea to help me make a human chain from California to North Carolina, and from Mexico to Canada. We have increased the rally to include ANY interstate. Even numbered highways will be lined on the west bound side and odd numbered highways will be lined on the northbound side. We are asking that any group who has a concern for the earth, join the rally. They are permitted to have signs that support their "cause" as it affects global warming and pollution, but also requested to support the electric vehicle by placing the word ZERO or just the number on the roof of their cars.
I'd like to invite you to a tailgate on July 4, 2008, to declare our Independence from oil. I hope to gather all the Green thinkers in a hand to hand, coast to coast, moment to demand changes that are better for us and the earth. If you could at least inspire others to come, perhaps with a promise that if we have enough numbers your organization will come, that would be a big help. Thanks Marcia

Thanks for your support. We are trying all avenues to join with California and other states adopting California greenhouse gas standards for vehicles to ensure the standards are implemented. Meanwhile, whether or not the greenhouse gas standards are part of the program, we continue to require CARB certified new vehicles because they emit fewer smog-producing pollutants as well. Leading up to this time we should place zeros or the word "zero" in our home windows and in our cars. Hopefully if there is enough attention, we will be able to get the radio stations to play the song "electric slide" for us, every hour on the hour we will perform a synchronized version of this dance.
What I would like from you and other organizations is a type of endorsement. Can you picture if enough people actually showed up to participate?
If all the people who had businesses connected to the electric vehicle were to "advertise" and possibly bring samples. All of the recyclers, and bio-diesels, and hybrids, and solar, and hydro, and thermal, and plug in america, and set america free, and the union of concerned scientists need to band together.
BEFORE the ELECTION.
In this time when we are told that America's image is tarnished in the eyes of the world, I submit to you that HUMAN CHAIN politics should not be looked at as an impossibility, but as an obligation, of leadership, to the world.
Granted the amount of people needed is seemingly insurmountable, but I believe if these organizations that are already known would express, that this would be an awesome feat if we could pull it off, and that they were willing to attend and then maybe everyone else would, In any case if you could at least talk to your own members, I think it would help.
We're only asking that people move their fourth of July event to the interstate. Because you know everyone's having one.
I anxiously hope for your approval. I'll keep plugging without it, but I could sure use some help.
