Which state is most environmental? No clue. I don't really care actually. But if forced to vote, I'd have to say Washington. But that's just me.

California? Hmm...Well, it has made pretty decent pollution reduction laws and other regulations concerning the coast, but that's mostly becuase it was really necessary. And now with Schwarzenegger around, don't excpect more environmentally-friendly decisions.

Oregon is the largest exporter of Christmas trees in the US. My dad said that all the people in the plains and in the south pay a ****load for their tree. We pay two bucks, go up in the mountains and cut one down. Well, I don't. I usually sit in the car. I don't like to see them pick out the "perfect tree" and molest it by cutting it down.

Well, not many people could even point out Vermont, Maine or Oregon on a blank map these days. So how can people be expected to know how environmental-wise the state is?

i have viewed pics of Maine, and Oregon in www.worldisround.com and i think that these two states are definitely the most environmental... their scenic views are so magnificent and so beautiful! i would love to go there sometime when i finish college... and oh, you forgot Massachussetts... i love their scenic views and the colorful autumn leaves that they are famous for.

Sorry, EG, if I sounded rude. All I meant was that she most likely doesn't necessarily think that these are the top 5 most environmental states in the U.S. Anyways, you're probably right about Alaska being the most environmentally sound.

Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't know I wasn't allowed to put in my two cents on this website. What was I thinking....

She didn't ask, "Which state is the most environmentally sound in the whole U.S.?" All she asked was, "Which of these states (the states she posted up) is the most environmental (of the states she posted up)." She didn't claim that the most environmentally sound of the five choices were necessarily the most environmentally sound in the whole U.S.

I grew up in Maineand let me tell you we rock environmentally. If you ever want some vacation tips hit me up, I know all the great spots in the national parks there. Vermont is also very clean but honestly canada blows us all out of the water.

I also am unsure about these states.
I think it's pretty safe to agree and say that Texas is not likely to be the most environmentally-friendly state, for obvious reasons.
When visiting the University of Oregon, it seemed like the state (at least on the campus) was making a pretty good effort of Green-ifying the new buildings on campus. One of the newer buildings has solar panels that are so efficient that they generate enough electricity to be able to sell some of it back to the state.
I haven't heard much about this issue on a state-to-state basis though.

I'm not THAT knowledgable on this issue, but I never thought Vermont or Maine were particularly environmental (at least no more than any other liberal states). And I agree about Texas.
