Millions of dogs and cats are put to sleep each year. Shelters are overloaded with homeless cats and dogs. Spay and Neuter your animals. There are too many pets in this world and its not fair to let your animals make more while millions dies each month just because there aren't enough homes for them to go to. (Plus once you spay and neuter animals they are less aggressive and more easy going and better pets.) www.aspca.org

I'm sorry, but it's not available for me. The only animals I keep are hamsters, which they do not spay, nor neuter.

People should ALWAYS spay and neuter all their pets, because no matter how many animals are spayed or neutered there will always be an overpopulation, since there are millions of animals bred illegally for fighting, racing and pet shows. Plus there are another couple million of animals that are killed because they can't find homes, and another couple million that are holed up in shelters because they can't find homes either. So we don't have to worry about OVER spaying and neutering.

You can still neuter him, dear. I agree that not all animals should be spayed/neutered, theres no logic in that. However, there should be more spaying/neutering going on in general to keep animals off the streets.

but if ALL the dogs and cats were spayed/nutered, there wouldn't be any more around, and they would go extinct. I'm for spay/nutering if you think that it would be best for your dogs situation, like we did with our dog, but NOT for every dog.

I can see neutering or spaying a dog that isnt pure bread but I'm ok with people that are breeding pure bread dogs.

Right on everyone! I'm glad everyone is sensible and considerate here. Breeders enrage me! We already have millions of homeless animals--and these idiots are breeding more! I have had four kitties (I currently have two). All of them were strays that I took in. All of them were neutured right away. I also took a stray cat who lives on my block in to the vet to be neutured. He hangs out on the street and a few people feed him. I would adopt him but my cat hates him. Also, my dad says two cats are enough for now. Pet shops also enrage me! Adopt from the humane society or take a street kitten in!

All dog/cat pets should be spayed/neutered. We shouldn't even need animal shelters, and if we did this we wouldn't. And the title of this topic was so right. Animal junk is gross.

Do you guys think its fair for owners to not spay/neuter just because its "messing with nature" or taking away their "manliness" ? What do you think animals would say about this if they could?

I agree with all of what you are saying becuase my mom is the manager at a local animal shelter where we live. She has to do a monthly report so they can get some what funded and each month they take in between 6 and 7 hundred animals (dogs and cats) in just one month! It's not worth letting your dog or cat have a litter. I mean think about the pain we go through with childbirth but time that by ten. It makes your male dogs less agressive and your male cats not spray while it makes your female dog or cat have a lesser chance of getting ovarian cancer. Just think about it. Imean my dogs are fixed and they are all right. Spay and Neuter is the only answer to reduce pet overpopulation.

I agree so much with what you said. I really wish that we would have spayed our cat because all he does is spray in my room. I can't stand it but we love him way too much to let him go. I know that we have tried to rescue so many cats since I was little. I mean...we have never bought a cat...we always end up taking in strays because people in our neighborhood get them but don't want to take the responsibility of taking care of them. It's not just in the country where they let them loose. It happens here all the time too. Most of the pet stores do all that before they "sell" them. You have to pay a little more, but at least you don't have to do that yourself.

Another tip- Don't drop your animal off on some desolate road out in the country. Really. Take them to a shelter where they'll have a better chance of being adopted. Us country folk would appreciate that- We can only save so many.
