It makes me so upset when people dont believe in global warming, like my friends. when i tell them about it and im like, this is why its so unusually hot in some areas, is because of global warming. they always make some lame excuse and are like, "no, thats not why. its normal." it think people are in denial because they dont want to beleive in it; they wish it isnt happening so they just simply tell themselves that so they think everyhitng is okay, when its not.
we were the one of the factors that caused global warming. but i also do beleive that it also might have to do with the earth moving closer to the sun. becuase, a long time ago. (like, in the BCs) something similar like this happend.
but i still think that when humans are polluting the air and burning coal, etc. i think it also contributes to global warming.
so, im not saying that it isnt us, i am saying that it is us, but just not entirely.

*facepalm* The term "global warming" does NOT mean that it will get warm everywhere. Global warming refers to the gradual increase in the average surface temperature of the world. Key word there: average. Some places will get colder, while other places get warmer. Some places might not even experience much of a temperature change. But that's not the problem. As the average temperature rises, more ice from the North and South Poles will melt, which will result in cooler water from the Poles heading towards the equator, which could seriously mess with ocean currents like the Gulf Stream. The Gulf Stream is the main reason the Northern Hemisphere is so temperate. If the Gulf Stream changes the way it flows, Europe and North America run the risk of getting much colder.
The ocean currents are also responsible for atmospheric phenomena such as hurricanes. Notice how the past couple of hurricane seasons have been some of the worst on record? Climate change is the cause there, too.
So, to sum up: global warming is a completely accurate name, HOWEVER, it does not mean that it will get warmer everywhere. To think it does indicates a complete lack of comprehension regarding global warming, which is part of the reason the term "climate change" is becoming more popular. Less misconceptions come out of a more ambiguous term.
i live in Missouri, and this was the weirdest weather year ever. we all thought last year was weird because our winter was super cold but never any snow, and our summer was super hot and hardly any rain. now this year we had a very cold and snowy winter, and a freezing spring with countless storms and tornado warnings and hail. and now it's summer, and it's over 90 degrees. there was no in between this year, and that's pretty scary. with the extremely severe storms we had this year, who knows how bad next year's could be.
Of course its reality, evrything and everyone is somehow some way effected by it, even us. Because if certain things die off, that leads to another thing dying off and so on, and the thing is we don't know which species we'll need to keep the earth together, if things keep going the way they're going WE'LL eventually die off!
Global Warming is a reality, and many people need to wake up and smell the coffee. We were discussing this topic in my world issues class and a fellow student of mine believes that global warming is a ' conspiracy ' and that its just a way for politicians (refering to Al Gore after watching "An Inconvenient Truth") to make money. So he is basically saying global warming is just a propaganda and its not real! And me being trying to make a change and go GREEN I got upset and I try to stand for what I believe. I tried to get my point across about the signs of global warming such as the weather changing and etc. and the boy says that the weather has nothing to do with global warming the weather changes only because it has to!
So I guess people don't believe what is happening in this world is serious.
Well, there is more to it, but I'm no scientist, so I don't want to try and fail at properly explaining the gory details. My purpose is getting rid of the false impression that global warming is "everything getting hotter". I don't know where people get that idea, but it's a major oversimplification.
Again? I already explained it. Right there in the post. I'll put it more concisely this time: global warming is the rise in average global temperatures resulting in various climate changes in different places. In other words, global warming may make it colder in the Arctic, but warmer in the Antarctic.
It is most certainly not everything getting warm everywhere.

I also like the fact that a lot of people blame hurricane Katrina and that tsunami in the indian ocean on global warming. Pretty soon they'll start to blame car crashes on it too.
A tip for you: learn what "global warming" really is before you start mouthing off on it.
Seriously, are you people even reading? Global warming does not mean the entire world is going to get warm. It means average temperatures are going up. In some places, it will get warmer. In other places, it'll get colder.
Climate change is a more accurate title because it reflects how changing global temperatures can affect the weather. Thus, natural disasters such as hurricanes can be caused by global warming. Increasing ocean temperatures can change the size and power of hurricanes, since they're formed over the open ocean.
Learn before you write something. Otherwise, you just look stupid. Sorry if I sound harsh, but I'm kind of sick of people who think they know what they're talking about.

its not that were going to run out of oxygen its that we are destroying habitats. Can a panda live in the maple outside a office building? I'm thinking no. And by the way which is better a little twig in the ground or a 150 year old oak. A city may have close to a couple thousand trees in it, a forest the same size has a couple million I'm not much for math but isn't that a huge difference?
Bush stinks.
When all is lost there's nothing to keep you from leaving and getting coffee.

if its global warming, why did all the "scientists" all of the sudden change their minds and started to call it global climate change. It is all a bunch of bull shit.
Because it's not just the earth getting hotter? I'm no expert on the subject myself, having only seen "An Inconvenient Truth" and very little else, but since clpo already mentioned this...
quote:
You can't judge global climate by your local climate. I think the problem is the term "global warming" itself. People think it means it will get warm everywhere. That's not what it means. Global temperatures are rising on average but only by a small bit. Even so, that will cause it to be unusually cold in some places and unusually hot in others.

besides, putting it aside like that is putting an impact by human society because the humans themselves are ignoring it. by the way one million acres would probably be the size of california, this is just a scam made by algore
