our Earth is being constantly ravaged by deforestation and is in danger of dying out because of irresponsible actions of humans. Hectares of land are cleared for commercial logging, farming, industrial purposes and human settlement. When large areas are cleared, soil erosion is silting up the rivers and therefore, the levels of river beds are raised. Consequently, flash floods and landslides are a common occurrence. Rivers become polluted with mud, silt, debris and this is a threat to marine and plant life. Besides that, the slash-and-burn techniques used by the native populations during deforestation will cause uncontrollable wildfire and air pollution. Deforestation also brings about adverse climatic changes. During deforestation, trees are cleared. More carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere and this will cause greenhouse effect. Our Earth's temperature rises to a very high level each year. In short, deforestation brings different types of negative impacts to the environment. Is this the price we have to pay, in the name of progress and development? Recently, experts said that the very main reason of deforestation is poverty. According to them, we must first help those loggers and natives in order to stop deforestation. It is said that by educating the young generations and organizing campaigns are not enough to solve this problem as the loggers and natives are the one who live in the forest and exploit the forest.
So, are you agree with those experts? or any suggestions on how to stop deforestation?
