Ok so I know a million people have probaly talked about this but I would like to comment.

I just met a guy who thought animals were ours to kill. Lets just say that pissed me off. Animals are NOT ours to kill. They are a part of this earth and we are killing them because they are getting in our way. Why? They were here first. Shouldnt we treat them like....are best friend???

Exactly.

Usually I come off as kind of vague, but now I'm making myself seem rather dense. Ah, how I love the Internet and its various ways of misrepresenting me...

I don't think this is quite right, animals are a resource...we don't kill them because they 'get in our way'.

how were they here 1st? we all evolved from the primeval soup, we humans are just enjoying our zenith, or renaissance if you will.

They'd kill and eat us if they had the chance

heh, they sure would...if they could reason and think like we do, i'm sure we'd be toast, and lots of animals eat humans already...

snakes, sharks, bears, large felines..

What do you mean? I included bears because they actually will eat humans. They may not actively seek us out, but if we're hiking along in the mountains, they might decide to have a taste.

But again, I suppose that goes back to intruding in the animal's territory.

Yeah, I couldn't come up with a better example. I just thought "what eats humans" and went from there. I suppose I could have used lions, but then someone would have made a smart remark regarding tigers and all seriousness would disappear from this thread forever.

Then we shouldn't intrude on them. It's our own fault if we get attacked. Also, wolves won't attack a human unless starving.

Shade, most carnivorous animals don't differentiate between humans and other animals. We're food, just the same as anything else. That's what I meant.

It's not as if bears and wolves and the like are stalking us, just waiting for us to let our guard down. I hope you didn't take it that way. As I said, this world is one where the fittest survive. There are animals that can and will attack, kill, and consume humans if said humans aren't careful in the wild.

You're confusing intelligence with wisdom. Common mistake.

They may be less intelligent than humans but they aren't unintelligent all together, and yet if they were IMO that would be even more reason to want to protect them and look after them, because they are unable to do it themselves.

Hmph. There are too many of those damn lapdogs anyway. I'm serious. Too many domestic and feral domestic animals.

Also, animals are unintelligent. They are not unwise.

Sadly most people are speciesist and believe that humans are superior to animals. I think that it's a sad thing to know that most people think animals are for killing, and even sadder to know the brutal ways in which some of them are killed. We don't live in a land where we need to kill animals for fur, especially since the synthetic material is better to use anyway. I mean there are many cats and dogs that are disappearing and being used for fur also so it's like, how knows if that hideous fur coat contains reminisces of fluffy or not? The outlook on animals and the though that they are such inferior, unintelligent animals has to change before anything else can.

If they had the chance, clpo? You're implying that they're just sitting there waiting to attack humanity. You must lead a very sad and paranoid life.

I was just saying that not all would do that if they had a chance. That was all.

What's your point? Not all humans eat meat. But that doesn't mean no one should.

Survival of the fittest. They'd kill and eat us if they had the chance, so I don't really see a problem with humans killing and eating animals.
