As funny and ironic as that is, how can one be cruel to dead animals? I mean, they're dead.

Thank you clpo. If they can be charged for animal cruelty for euthanizing animals, then we should arrest all the people who euthanize healthy animals at all the animal shelters in this country as well.

PETA is irrational. They are against you having pets in yoru home or sevring emat in schools lunches.

If they are against having pets, then why do PETA employees have dogs and cats and etc.? And PETA believes that kids should be able to choose a meat-free school lunch instead of having meat forced on them if they don't bring a bagged lunch.
quote:
The last thing we need is mroe stray dogs and more stray cats who can't be neutered because PETA says its cruel.

Oh the stupidity...PETA is for spaying/neutering! In 2004 alone, they spayed/neutered 7,641 animals!

And a lot of movies would suck without real animals in them.

What about the new King Kong?

And we would have to test drugs on people, not animals.

Uh, we already do that, they're called "clinical trials".
quote:
There's no preying on peoples' moral compassion by saying "Look at this poor dog. If you keep eating meat, this dog will die". (That argument is pretty stupid anyways because dogs and hamburgers usually have no correlation).

Since when have they said that? What they say is; If you wouldn't eat your dog, then why eat a pig (an animal who's even smarter than a dog)?
quote:
Wasn't it a PETA person who said something like "a rat is a dog is a child" when protesting animal testing?

People always quote that incompletely. "A rat is a dog is a pig is a child" when it comes to their capacity to feel pain and suffer.
quote:
But not for banning meat in stores and the throwing of blood on human being beings.

I don't think there's anything from PETA that says that they are trying to ban meat from stores, right now they're just trying to spread awareness and give people the choice. Oh, and I'm pretty sure it wasn't really "blood" they the activists threw, and PETA didn't tell them to do that anyway, so you can't blame PETA for something that was the activists' idea.

i think PETA is represented perfectly in "South Park".

I don't watch South Park, maybe you can give me a summary?

Thank you Bushsupporter.

Ha ha, yeah, that's where it came from Euterpe, I love all those quotes of his.

I think that PETA needs a serious reality check, most of their stuff stinks. Now, I'm all for animal rights and stuff but they go WAY over board. Wasn't it a PETA person who said something like "a rat is a dog is a child" when protesting animal testing?

Amen. I have said on many occassions that I think there should be harsher punishment for neglect, dog fighting, and horrible cruelty. But not for banning meat in stores and the throwing of blood on human being beings. Thedo need a BIG reality check.

I wasn't referring to the neutering thing. I was just saying that not all things PETA does is bad. Surely you can't disagree. Is raising money for animal shelters bad? No. And for your information, I became a vegetarian before I'd ever heard of PETA. I was ten. Who cares what an organization like PETA says at age ten.

If PETA is right, then neutering stray dogs and cats so we don't end up with more stray dogs and cats is bad. But it isn't bad. Neutering stray animals prevents them from breeding, thus ensuring that native species aren't chased out, which will happen if said dogs and cats multiply. It was in a National Geographic a while ago.

But the main reason I don't like PETA is their underhanded methods. There's no preying on peoples' moral compassion by saying "Look at this poor dog. If you keep eating meat, this dog will die". (That argument is pretty stupid anyways because dogs and hamburgers usually have no correlation). I'm talking about secret spy-cameras in select slaughterhouses filming all the "bad" stuff that goes on. First off, those cameras shouldn't even be there. Second, they choose the abnormalities to film. Forget all the stuff that goes on in slaughterhouses that's okay by PETA, they just pick and choose the worst bits. And what's more, at the end of these so-called exposés, that's when they appeal to your "better" half by asking--no, telling!--you to become a vegetarian. Thank you, but no. I like my Double QPCs.

I know what goes on in slaughterhouses. I know that food animals aren't treated very well. But I honestly don't care. It may sound callous to you, but I've learned to live with it. There are more important things to worry about than animals.

You can belive that, its your opinion, but it doesn't change the fact that PETA exists and, in my opinion, often does the right thing. I'm a vegetarian so I'd go either way on the school lunch thing.

PETA does what they think is right, just like you as a member of the Honorable Coalition or the Holy Pinapple do. We all do what we think is right. And because there are no right and wrong, since they're opinions, PETA is entitled to their group even if you do dislike them. PETA does help animals most of the time, though I must say the extent of their actions are often irrational. Overall, I think PETA is doing what's best for the animals and, sometimes, people.
