Ok, back to the original topic. I'm an environmentalist, but I'm not a vegetarian. Just as Ampmaster said, more trees are cut down for soy bean fields, which you use for tofu. On another note, its been scienticifally proven that plants feel pain. People have been eating meat since the beginning of time, but there's a lot of people now. We just have to use are resources in moderation.
P.S. I'm more of an environment conservationalist, trying to keep and save what we have.

Where do you get this sense of grand justice from? Life kills life all the time, it's natural. Lions eat thier prey, antelope eat grass, hell beavers chop down trees, ha. Killing is part of nature and requires no compensation. Humans are just like any other form of life in the natural system. We want to use resources, so we take them through harvesting or killing and use them how we see fit. That's the way the world goes 'round.
