I heard on the radio the other day about two teenage boys beating, skinning and burning a cat. There was also another instance of a kitten being beaten to death by some teenage boys and thrown onto the tracks at a train station… violence against cats goes on and on.
The point, or rather question I am faced with is, are cats pron to be attacked by boys or males?
I heard on a talk back radio that they are because boys are brought up believing cats are a very feminine animal and it has come to my attention that guys really do hate cats, but is hating a cat any reason to brutalise or kill a cat? What is so wrong with cats? I must admit, I am not one to shack up with 28 cats and they aren’t exactly my favourite animal but… why are they so violently attacked?

i have two cats and i love them sooo much. I also hate people who abuse animals, especially cats. If anyone did anything like that to my cat, and i found out who it was for sure, i would torture them the same ways they killed my cat. And i would do it long and slow, and disort their face so they have some way to remember what they did.

I think anyone who abuses cats should be shot. Cats have feelings too, and if someone gets pleasure from hurting cats, then they are very sick and dont deserve to exist on the earth. I just wish i was the king of all... and i had power things so i could rewind time and stuff, go to where someone killed a cat, and kill the people. Thats how strongly i feel about the abusing of cats. WHo ever does it needs to be KILLED.

Don't worry, Celtic's just insane and has constructed a complex rationalization around her problems, acting as a fortress against her own fears for her future, and those that haunt her from her past.

It's a wonder that Puerto Rico isn't a state.

I agree with yougore. There is nothing wrong with the cats, it's the people who hurt them.

I think it's awful about the cats, I haved a cat who I love very much myself, but I don't think it's fair to just categorize the guys like that, even if I'm not all that big of a fan of them (in general) sometimes. Not all guys are bad though! we gotta cut 'em some slack every once in a while. Actually there was a story in my state about a girl who was mad at her roommate so she took her cat, tortured it and drowned it...

Also, my boyfriend loves cats... they are his favorite animals. One time he saw some guy hurting (aka torturing) a stray cat and he broke his elbow. He has his own kitty named Kitty and she lives like a queen.

Another guy I know who works with my mom loves cats too.

I also know quite a few girls who say they "hate" cats... they expect them to be likes dogs.

I don't really like dogs... well i like some dogs but in general cats make me feel happier. They can be so moody and are so different from eachother while dogs usually differ very slightly in moods and personality.

I don't think anyone's freaking out, and by your "Go to Hell" response, I'd say you weren't too entertained.

Anyway. The original question. Perhaps they are more prone to being attacked because of that whole 'fear of the unknown' thing. Anyone who has been around any cat knows how quirky they can be. For some freaks people, 'deconstructing', or in this case, 'mutilating' something they don't understand is thier way of coming to terms with something strange. At least, that's why I took apart my alarm clock...

Anyway. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

"Life is a funny thing. If you try to take a cat apart and put it back together again, the first thing you have is a noworking cat"
Paraphrased. I forget who said that. I know he (all I remember it that it was a he) said it at Douglas Adams' eulogy.

I know they don't all act a certain way. I'm not that stupid.

Anyway, I would have corrected myself but watching you all freak out is way too entertaining.

Firstly, I was going to say the same thing. Can someone edit that title so it says 'prone'? It's making my eye twitch.

Secondly, I agree with the guys. Girls can be just as violent, it's just not as often. Just recently, I think someone may have posted it here somewhere, three teenaged girls sodomized and killed an old man. Why? For fun. For kicks.

Humans may just be naturally violent, men moreso, but women have their fair share of the blame.

Um... I'm a guy and I love cats...
But some guys are just freaks.
Just so you know, EarthGoddess, I'm not a. . .

C'mon, don't throw us all in the same pot. I learned to mentally diffuse my anger a long, long time ago, along with some...other emotions.

Cats are more prone to be attacked by different people... Probably because cats will usually roam more then dogs and the fact that they are more vulnerable... like its easier for people to catch and kill a cat without hurting themselves rather than a dog which could really bite them hard. Plus most cats don't wear collars if they have owners while dogs usually do and animals that appear to be strays are more prone to be attacked.

It's to look cool and scare the parents. Typical teenage angst.
