Hi everyone,

YouthNoise is participating in an exciting new project that involves automatically converting the NOISEboards from English to Farsi (and vice versa) in order to better connect youth in the Middle East with those in the US! What we need are 8 volunteers to spend an hour or two chatting on some select boards so that the developers may test this device out. So… Any volunteers? No experience in Farsi is required. Just send an e-mail to sara@youthnoise.org if you're interested.

I think Arabic-English is the focus of the organization we are working with. If anyone wants information on the organization and what they're all about, you can check out their site @ meadan.org.

Why such an obscure language? I would think that a better first step would be Europe.

The test is either just concluded or in its final days. Several NMers participated. The project was highly successful and in the winter of 2007/08 we should be able to chat with Arabic youth in "real time".

I got something similar Cap. I was wondering that if they already have enough volunteers and don't need our assistance they should at least let us know, so that we don't wonder whether or not they are going to contact us. Or, if they do need us, then also let us know. I mean, I know that they must have a lot of things to do, I just really wish I knew already if I'm needed and if so, when.

Psh. I didn't even get that. I just got Sara's response to my email that she sent to me and Ginger; "Great, thanks. Ginger, another volunteer for the translation project." And I haven't recieved any more information about it.
