The GIF team sent this heartfelt message,
quote:
"We have achieved so much over the last couple months together. From panel-discussions to benefit concerts, vigils to movie screenings, and the success of the April 6th event in Washington, D.C., we have poured a huge amount of energy to help end this genocide. Letter writing and call-in days have proven to be invaluable (the Darfur Accountability Act in the Senate has passed)!
Even with the limited resources we have had access to, we have made a difference. Since the launch of the 100 Days of Action Campaign, over $80,000 has been raised for the African Union peacekeepers, the only group providing necessary protection and security for the citizens of Darfur. Imagine what we can do with increased support for our efforts. The GIF has the great honor of being one of three finalists for the mtvU and Reebok Darfur Activism Awards, which, if won, would provide a $40,000 grant to advance more national efforts to end the genocide."
