In Darfur... There are no channels

Our rally will have several different stations.

One Cause
This station will be just the facts. Statistics on death rates, number of people displaced, amount of people relying on international aid. Stuff like that. This will tell people what has happened in Darfur, why it is such a big crises and what has been done so far. We want to use a lot of pictures because a picture can say a thousand words. What will someone say when they see a starving child? We also want people to know who we are so we will place the scrapbook of our events out for viewing.

One Way
This station will show the way of life in refugee camps. We want to do a side by side comparison. Here’s one meal in the US, here’s one meal in a camp. Here’s your house, here’s theres. Apathy and Ignorance is one of the biggest obstacles this cause needs to over come. We need to feed the people information and MAKE them care.

What ONE can do
It will have a list of different charities and websites you can visit. I am hoping to have packets there that people can donate money with or that they can sponsor or child or anything of the sort.

The final station will have merchandise for sale. Shirts to promote the cause, wrist bands, pins, stickers, ANYTHING of the sort. 25% of the proceeds fromthe merchandise (if they aren’t donated from a group) will go to aid in Darfur.

The final element of this project will be HUGE!! A die-in. For those of you who don’t know that is when people lie on the ground, pretending to be dead to symbolize a cause. These were really popular during the Vietnam War. Our participants will wear white sheets and will symbolize the 400 people dying everyday in Darfur.
