If you think no one is going to take death threats seriously, you're an idiot. ESPECIALLY on YN of all places, where the rules make it clear that things like that don't fly here. You should really take the time to read them or just don't post at all.

whoops sorry i forgot to add this after my dadaistic display of humor

[/sarcasm]

i can't believe anyone took that seriously. the thing with dada is that it rejects conventionalism and i identify with that, thus my provoking "poem"

you think US regulation is correct when you have 20K+ deaths a year by firearms?

and isn't democracy meant to enforce equality? where is the equality when people have acces to means of intimidation with such ease? Don't gimme that "for protection" crap, the chances of someone breaking into your house and you actually realizing and shooting him are close to nil(this is statistically proven, likewise it is proven that the chances of you shooting someone in your family by accident are quite high).

you rather have a gun in your bedside drawer than be able to sit down on your terrace and drink a beer and relax? you're sick.

this dates back to 2000 but i believe it's still an interesting read:
http://www.commondreams.org/views/030500-104.htm

Regulation is so strict that practically no one here owns a gun, i feel much safer knowing that than knowing that half my neighbours have pistols in their drawers.

you can also buy handguns(you can have acces to assault rifles in some states correct?) in the EU, but here you have to obtain a license, whereas the US gun control policy is so lax that you might as well have none at all.

As for assualt weapons, yes, if you have a Class III license, you can buy them in any state. As for the EU, the guns are registerd and absurdly regulated, and it's very difficult to obtain those liscences.

Also you comparing drinking alcohol with gun ownership is lame.

You're right. Alcohol is merely a vice, whereas gun ownership is an important part of a free and democratic society. Both are, if used properly 100% safe, and also highly deadly if mis-used. I'd rather have the right to gun ownership than the right to drink.

I can legally buy a handgun in the US, and have been able to nearly a year now. If I happened to travel to Europe I wouldn't be able to. That doesn't seem right to me either.

Also, get over the AMERICKKKA bullshit.

Amerikans bitch about europe's social policy's being too lax and permisive, but i don't see any school shootings, the suicide rate isn't nearly as high as in the us, prozac isn't a common use drug, and we don't have nearly as many drunk driving accidents as in the US.

amerikan policy is full of sh*t... and it is rather ironic how i could join the army and go kill people but i'm not allowed to order beer with my lunch when i sit down in a restaurant.

Exactly. I don't promote anything relating to the drinking law. You gave me a choice to repeal it or keep it, and I said I didn't care, but I gave a response and backed it up. I don't think it would matter. 12 year olds don't often drink now, and no more would if they were allowed to. There are more reasons than it being unlawful that minors choose not to drink...

"aboliching?" I've never heard of this word before... Oh wait... I see... You meant "abolishing", how silly of me.

I didn't see anyone say we should abolishing drinking age laws in this thread... Just statements that it wouldn't really matter much.

NO, clpo's argument was that they will do it anyway and that it is your right to screw up your life. 12 year olds don't get that right and aboliching laws because people will do it anyway is an idiotic thing to say.

I understand that. BS's argument was that 12 year olds can't screw up their lives because they don't have the right. Having or not haveing a right to do such isn't going to stop them.

Yes, but illegally. I can kill someone, but that doesn't mean I have the right to do it. I can steal something, but that doesn't give me the right to do it.

It isn't your right to screw up your life if you are 12. 12 year olds don't have that right.

You're an idiot. Seriously. Come up with your own words.

Drinking and smoking, as a general rule, do not hurt anyone other than the person doing the acts. Killing, on the other hand, obviously hurts other people, which is why it is illegal. You can screw up your own life all you want, but once you start screwing up the lives of others, it becomes illegal. The correlation is fairly obvious. Now, I compared being rude to drinking and smoking because being rude doesn't hurt anyone either. Little puppies don't die because you insulted someone. However, it's just common courtesy, which is why you're told not to be rude.

But why do I even bother? You've clearly shown that you're unable to debate in a proper manner. No doubt you'll just steal my own words and twist them against me once more. That's all you do, isn't it BS? I have no tolerance for those who can't debate.
