Battered Men. Hard to believe, but it happens. In today's society, men are supposed to be (for the most part) macho and strong. They're the ones (for the most part) that put the bread on the table...or at least supply the money for it (no offense meant).

You may think this is silly and that battered men are nonexistant, but statistics do show that women can and will readily initiate violence.

A 2001 survey finds that:
1.5 million women and 850,000 men are victims of domestic violence. It is estimated that only 13% of men actually reported it.

What's funny here is what comes to the police. Only 1.6% resulted in arrests and 3.5% resulted in restraining orders.

But this is no laughing matter. I call to action all of the people who read this. Surely if we work together, something can be done!

I'm sorry to hear about your niece's situation. If you call 1-800-799-SAFE, it is a domestic abuse hotline, completely confidential, and they would likely be able to give you further information on the options available to both your niece and you.

No shenanigans.

I have a little different take on the subject. I have it on good authority that each of us both men and women have more or less X or Y Chromosomes active. Via genetics a gay male would have a larger X chromosome even though his Y chromosome is dominant in a certain genetic cycle. That is, his DNA will say he's male but his X chromosome is almost but not quite the size of the Y dominant one. Sort of like the Republican and Democratic voters in the last election between Gore and Bush (2004.)
The factor that makes this happen is the affect the Communist party, the Libertarians, and the Socialists have on the voting process. Not enough to be significant but noticable nonetheless because of the newsmedia and the attention of the general public at large. Each component to the human anatomy is directly related to the negative or positive field of the trait involved in the human genome. However the amount of neutrons in any one field is significant enough to affect the behavior of said individual. If a woman, having a strong Y Chromosome field pairs up with a male with a strong X Chromosome field you have role reversal
Two males one with a seventy-five percent X and another with a seventy-five percent Y might be gay. Similarly, a female with the same ration of X to another female's Y would have the same attraction even though their primary Chromosonal
base is the same DNA letter. Eek Wink Cool

oh ok, so not only have i said "oh i am really sweet, that is why battered men dont exist"

I have also said "I will beat my future wife because her and I won't be mature enough to settle our arguments etc"

really, all I said was "mayb one day if my wife decides " " " " BUT THEN AGAIN MY WIFE WILL NEVER BEAT ME"

I never mentioned anything about raising a family or making a home or whatever bullshit you are going on and on about.

We are not talking about what makes a marrige work and what doesnt, we are not talking about how mature people dont beat their wives and raise good kids etc.

We are talking about the credibility of battered men.

get over myself....when have i been stuck on myself? i dont remember saying something like "oh i am really sweet, that is why battered men dont exist"....your being an idiot, and i dont mean in the personality sense.

and no, i will not believe there are enough battered men to make any kind of case that this problem is serious...

this is a joke, if you r a man and getting baten up by your wife, tighten your belt and order her back into the kitchen, take control of the situation. that is why you have testosterone, to make babies and boss people around using the force and anger/aggresiveness testosterone provides

mayb if one day my wife decides to beat me then yes, i will agree with you......but then again my wife will not beat me.

.....

You make me sick.

A marriage is a work of equal weight. The husband and wife share equal duties. Both the husband and the wife must work together to make the home a healthy place for children to live. Both must work together to raise children. They must be mature enough to take up their arguments without violence....which is obviously something that you're (AMF8) not mature enough to do.

I sure as hell hopes she does because everyone deserves to be punished for stupid things they say.

That's very rude to say. It takes a real man to admit that he can be hurt. Manlyness does not come from pretending that one is invincible. I'd like to see your definition of a "man" even though I am sure it's a crappy definition.

And......you are..... pretty..... dumb... for using..... way too many..... elipses..... in one..... sentance.....

the amount of men who are truly battered does not hold a candle to the amount of women who are battered.

Do you have a source for this? You may know less abusive women but that does not mean they're not out there.

I agree that there are far fewer physical abuse cases, but women are more often offenders of emotional abuse which is just as serious.

just becuase it is not as common does not mean that it should be ignored though. You are being very stereotypical and stupid, AMF, by saying that men are never victims when they clearly can be. Do you realize how full of bias that statement was? You are relying solely on stereotypes and your perception of how things should be. A man does not figuratively cut off his testicles by saying he was abused.

that sounds nice in principle....

be honest, if your wife slapped u around a bit would you say you were being "abused"

the second you said that you were being abused by a woman would be the second you figuratively cut off your testicles

mayb there is the odd one case, but in general, men don't get physically abused by women enough to make this issue of "battered men" a credible one

sure if you find that one case where the man is getting his ass kicked, throw the book at his bitch

even if there were battered men, the battereing of women is worse in every way

the amount of men who are truly battered does not hold a candle to the amount of women who are battered.

by the way, this world is not equal, and women get shafted more than men, so stop bitching like men have it bad and can never be the victim.

Again, perpetuating the image of woman victimhood. In this world of supposed equality, why shouldn't a man have the same rights as a woman when it comes to spousal abuse?

seriously, I find the issue of men being "battered" one that is somewhat offensive....

tons of women recieve massive beatings from their drunk *** belligerent husbands, and I think that is a serious problem.

I dont think it is a problem that some man got slapped by his wife. I doubt his situation is worse than most battered womens is

...we are getting preoccupied with some stupid minority that is *****ing.

You are such a femnazi to believe that beatings are exclusive to women. You want the woman to be the victim, to perpetuate that image of victim-hood. But what law says that a man cannot be a victim of batterings?

You may be open for replies, but your mind obviously closed.
