Yeah, I think at some point we should definitely do something HIV/AIDS related. Maybe not just yet. January? February?...

I like Benje's idea. Even if we didn't do it for November.

That's really common. Are you sure that we want to be conformists? Or maybe we could mix it up a little to make it more distinguished...

Oooh, didn't catch that it starts up in November. I'm sort of against doing a hunger-theme for November only because..that's when everyone does food drives and whatnot. Perhaps we should go somewhere completely different on November. Do a hunger J1C in a month where charities don't normally focus on the issue. And Cancer research is always a prevelant theme, I guess.

quote: Who donates the money for the J1C Campaigns?
I'm pretty sure it said in the last one that the money is donated by the sponsors of YN and/or Tides Center. Tabb and sweetheart (as yogore already pointed out), the last one we had was for Katrina. No offense, but let's move on a little to something else. Euterpe, since it starts up in November, I don't know if the October designated benefit would be such a great idea. If we went with health observances for November, I believe November is designated Diabetes... Or using more recent news, donating to a cause that's trying to find the cure for the Avian flu or the "Dog" flu? I'm with yogore; but what would we do for December? The Holidays are also thought as a good time for those benefits, so we might have to plan ahead to at least December to make sure we don't repeat ourselves. Just putting stuff out there.

I think that the funds for the nxt j1c fundraiser should go to the harderst hit are from Katrina. Or the next j1c drive should go towards children suffer from malnutrion in another country.

The last J1C went to that. My thought immediately went to Thanksgiving and how it could be related there. If there is some charity that feeds the homeless, I think it is worth donating to seeing as Thanksgiving reminds us all how fortunate we are to be able to have food. If we're doing something along the lines of thanksgiving..and being thankful, how about the thing that we all have to be thankful for..life. Whether the money goes to the cancer funds, or march of dimes, anything to show the support of life. I don't know, that's just my idea.

I think the money should definetly go to the Hurricane Katrina and Rita victims. They need as much help as possible, because the holidays are coming up and they have nothing. They not only have presents to give one another, but they're without food and homes. They need our help!
