If we are all loved by God and are ALL GOD'S CHILDREN, than why are there so many people that are hated because they don't fit into the typical Christian mold?
I have not yet reached my goal, and I am not perfect. But Christ has taken hold of me. So I keep on running and struggling to take hold of the prize. My friends, I don't feel that I have already arrived. But I forget what is behind, and I struggle for wha

In response to the original poster- I wouldn't go as far as to use the word hate when you're referring to a true christian, but I think I know where you're coming from. There are many people out there who claim to be a 'christian' without really knowing what being a christian is. That could be one reason why a lot of people don't typically like other 'christians' because they aren't actually christians. If you're a true christian you don't hate others, but again, there are many people out there claiming to be christians who really are not. I don't understand why people have to be so mean to each other, but there are so many out there who need to be shown God's love, and that's where the true christians come in.

oh man i was reading this forum, and you people need to chill, especially you scx with the icon of kissing. You are talking about judgement day and all of this serious stuff. How old are you, 14? Seriously, go out and live your life while you can, and worry about judgement day later. Honestly you take life way to seriously for a teenager. Stop listening to pastor whoever, your parents, sister so and so and go out and start thinking for yourself, and jesus christ lighten up. Oh my god your life must be bleak if you are talking about judgement day. Seriously, being religious is fine, but you dont have to take it to the point of obsession when you are too young to know your *** from your elbow.

You don't know what you're talking about, Shelly, and you're jumping in the middle of this discussion without reading previous ones. Jesus is not physically the son of God. He was a man who was a great teacher and thought by Christians to be the Messiah. Son of God is something entirely spiritual and has little to do with all we view the word "son" nowadays. You are not as good as Jesus, most likely, because he was a great man as it is and thought to be nearly perfect by Christians. It's wrong to assume so through the ill logic you have provided. The meaning of "child of God" is that He loves you, even if you haven't accepted him. Since I'm not one for the preaching, that's all I'll say for now.

Speaking of all being god's children, Jesus is "great" because he is the son of god. If that's true, and we're all god's children, does that make me the daughter of god? does that make me just as good as jesus?

quote: I can think I have a million dollars, but the fact is, i don't. No matter how much I think I'm right about me having a million dollars, the fact still remains that I do not.
But, you can actually PROVE that you don't have a million dollars because it is tangible and we can wrap our minds around the fact that it is not there... Two people can be interpreting something differently and both be right because no one knows for sure... no one can prove that they are right, so both are right... quote: Someone has to be right...We can't both be right. Someone has to be right, and someone has to be wrong.
Why? Why can't you both be right? You make it a necessity that only one person can be right, then often that person will not be you. I believe that I am right in a lot of situations (esp. religion), however I know that others believe that they are right. Now, your beliefs are wrong for me, but right for you. So, I am right for me, you are right for you. Neither of us can be proven wrong, so until that happens, we are both right... you could think the other way of it, too, though... since we can't prove it we're both wrong... quote: Aetheists and Chrisitans can't both be right. If God is real then we will find out in the end because we will meet him on judgment day. This would mean that the Christians were right. If there is no god then we will never know.
Whoa, a thought just came to my head. What if what happened to us when we die is what we THINK will happen to us? What if the truth is that when we die, we do whatever we believed that would happen to us when we die... (i think that it is a pretty cool idea...

Thanks for accepting my apology Nick. ANd thanks for your apology as well. I understand what you mean about christians not acting like christians should. There are many hypocrittes. Now about the right/wrong interpretation thing. I think I understand what you mean. But I'm not sure. Do you mean two people that interpret something differently are both right because they both think they are? To me that doesn't make any sense. I can think I have a million dollars, but the fact is, i don't. No matter how much I think I'm right about me having a million dollars, the fact still remains that I do not. Sort of how Christians view an Aetheist's belief on God. I'll base this on if God is not real. A chrisitan can belive God is real with all his/her heart but that doesn't change the fact that He's not. Of course, a Christian views it opposite. No matter how much an aetheist believes that there is no god, that doesn't change the fact that there is. So who's right? Someone has to be right. Aetheists and Chrisitans can't both be right. If God is real then we will find out in the end because we will meet him on judgment day. This would mean that the Christians were right. If there is no god then we will never know. However, that would mean that the aetheists were right. See what I mean? We can't both be right. Someone has to be right, and someone has to be wrong.

No, it's not the same thing. You're blatently telling me I'm wrong, when really I just interpret things differently... We can both be right and have opposing view points... Such that with abortion, etc. And, SC, thanks for the apology, it was well received... I know I seem to always jump on people like that, sorry, it is just it is horrible in my town... most of the christians... it's hard to explain... I have many a story though... I don't think they are very 'christian' that is, living in christ's image... quote: And I'm not going to argue with the awesomeness factor because I'm afraid we would continue to go on forever telling each other who was more awesome.
It's true...we would... maybe we should start a board for that... haha, just kidding...

Nick--> Saying I'm God's child makes me seem conceited? Sorry if I came across that way. I really don't see myself being better than anyone just because I'm a christian. I mean, I have confidence in myself but i'm not stuck-up if that's how I came across as. Sorry.

That's right, it's a matter of opinion! So, again, the Bible can be interpreted differently by individual people.

Thanks worth, but you are so totally more awesome! I count you among my favorite people on YN, and you are one of the nicest, tolerant christians I've met. I would say that you are probably my favorite christian...

I don't know SC, it still seems a little conceited to me... I can't put my finger on why it seems that way, but it does. Kind of just saying, "I'm God's child." Just seems that you are trying to separate yourself from all of the other people in the world... and by that separation it makes you seem conceited... I don't know, that's just the impression that I get... And, worth, I can't tell you how much I appreciate you fighting for us, (by that I mean that you are trying to tell everyone that not all people view the bible as truth...), you're gaining huge brownie points in a lot of books here... And, I don't feel that you CAN mininterpret the bible, like worth said, to many it is a piece of fiction, up for interpretation... so if I interpret it another way then someone else, that doesn't mean that either of us misinterpreted it, just interpreted it differently...

I know the Bible can be misinterpreted. I never said it couldn't.
The Bible can't be misinterpreted!! It is a piece of literature. That means that people can interpret it anyway they like, just like any other piece of literature. There is not a right or wrong opinion of what the Bible means. Yes, it's true to everyone what the words say but how you interpret those words cannot be wright or wrong.
Yes, the Bible can be misenterpreted. However God meant what he said is what He means. Just thinking He meant it a different way does not mean He did, therefore making it wrong.

But people need to realize that non-Christians see it most often as fiction....I guess I'm fighting a losing battle, huh?
