I became a zen buddhist about a year ago, not really because i stopped believing in God, but because Christians in general got so into worshipping God and asking Him to do things for them that that they forgot how he wanted them to live in the first place (like Jesus).
What I like about zen is that you don't worship Buddha. It's more about living in the moment and being happy really. And it's rteally open to every religion so you can practice christianity at the same time.
Zen and Buddhism are different in the sense that with zen you don't spend time reading scriptures and stuff, you just meditate, but with both, you are trying to achieve enlightenment.
So there's a difference between buddhism and zen. I prefer zen because anyone can do it.

My girlfriend studied Buddhism for a few months a while back. If you're looking for actual Buddhists, give E-Sangha a shot--it's a forum full of practicing Buddhists from a bunch of different sects.

Good luck. I'm not a buddhist by no means, but from what I do know is that there are about as many different sects as there are buddhist. Each one with a totally different belief system. Why are you interested in buddhism
