The other day I was flipping channels and came across The History channel or something and there was a program about Jesus, particularly his crucifixion. It was telling about how nailing someone is one of the most painful experiences and that the hands and feet are the most painful targets for this. There was a video reenactment and as the Romans nailed him, blood ran off of his hands and feet and his face twisted and he yelled in agony. There was also some talking about the different kinds of crosses like the Latin cross and why it is longer, etc. So during the few minutes watching this, I was asking myself "Why?" (I'm not a religious Christian, though I was born Christian and share some of its views with some other religions.) Anyway, I was asking myself why such a terrible punishment could happen to a man who was known to only help and heal others. He even already had a pretty crappy life when you consider that he was very poor and prosecuted by corrupt people who would and did do anything to end any possibilty of someone else having influence over Roman people. So I was wondering "WHY? Such an awful thing to happen after a life of many unpleasantries, and to a man who did so much good and held others in his highest interest. Why did this happen?!" I became fed up with the frustration of watching it and changed the channel. There, right on the first second of the next channel there was a black screen and in white letters it read: "For the greater good." And there was even a voiceover that read it in a deep voice. Then the screen faded and the commercials went on to advertising cars or food. I was wondering if anyone thought that last second of commercial coming on right after the Jesus program was more than coincidence? I thought it might be becuase "for the greater good" is just the answer to the questions I kept asking myself. It was really weird, and though I'm not Christian or superstitious I wanted some other opinions on if it seems coincidince or of a higher meaning.

Gosh, you guys took this so seriously and like I'm going to make a shrine of random objects becuase they look like they could be something that might be religious or something. I can't believe how judgemental some of you were, though I can't quite blame you for negating and in****ing something you don't quite have fact to back this up on. I was just bored and curious, not going to form a cult to worship all spotted household items and commercials hinting at some vague promise of contoversy and religion. I hadn't even responded since I wasn't on YN for a while, and came back and found two pages of mostly negative rambling! Haha. quote: I saw on Penn and Teller's Bull****! this woman who thought that the knots in the wood of her bathroom door were the eyes of Jesus. She prays to it daily and people flock to it for miraculous cures.
Yeah...I'm glad some of you amused yourselves, picturing me worshipping my TV and waiting for more coincidences happen while I endlessly flip channels or something. quote: worse has happened. Look at the south <slavery> those people just don't have a cult.
Right. But the program was about Jesus, not US history, and the commercial following was just the answer to the questions to myself. Just an example of my bored curiousity being morphed in the minds of some into fanatic worship... quote: That's absolutely fascinating, but it has nothing to do with Jesus showing himself to us in grilled bread products and TV commercials.
You're right. I should not have posted this, but rather searched in my salad for lettuce spotted with dressing, shaping the face of what Jesus is perceived to look like; I'll come to you then.

My sister had the image of Satan, head to feet, in the shape of the panelling in her room in our old house. It was hilarious, and scared her to no end. I always told my family she was demon spawn. Does anybody listen to me? Nooo.

I rather be normal and be just like everyone else so I could disappear within the people. It gets lonly sometimes but I rather not PRETEND to have magical powers to make myself feel special and I don't if she is lying but then again, if she reall had those powers, I don't think she will be spreading it all around school.

She is one of those people who believes that they has like supernatural powers. Like she could tell the future in her dreams and God/devil just comes to her sometimes. Blah, again how did she get that?

Now above my head in the computer room, I can see an axe, an oil can, a cherry, and a luna moth. These are knots in the woods, mind, and I don't worship them. But whatever floats you boat.

I swear I see Sherry Lewis and Lambchop and that tree he was always in in our bathroom cabinets... Intriguing story. However, it is unlikely if we will ever know if it be God, the Devil, a trick of the mind, or some boring coincidence.

Because people in those days saw Jesus as a freak who had these witchcraft like powers. You know how people are paranorid. Some people think a pimple on their butt is butt cancer. Anyways, the way I see it, is why would God answer your question when there is millions of other people asking him qustions too? Are you special or something? It makes me feel a little inferior. How can I get him to answer me? Whatever someone tells me a story like that, I ask them what makes you so important that God or the Devil came to you? I'm not trying to be mean, it's just some people make up that type of stuff to feel special. I'm not saying your doing that, I'm asking how did you get that to happen? I do believe those stories where they basically say that like an angel or something protected them from whatever, that sound more reasonable to me. However, so stories where God came to me in a dream or something, it's hard to believe because so many people I know have lied in the past about that. Like this one girl who told everyone in school that one day, she heard someone running in the halls of her house while she was in her room. She was thinking it was her little brother running around so she told him to stop from from her room. He didn't stop and it kept on like that for awhile until it just stopped. She wanted to go out of her room and slap her brother upside the head but something told her not to so she stayed until it stopped. She even said she heard knocking at her door. When she came downstairs to yell at her brother, he told her he was downstairs for the whole time with their mom and dad. The mom and dad said the brother was telling the truth so she thinks the Devil was trying to get into her room and if she opened the door, she will let him in. Okay again why would the devil want her and nor someone else?

Hey, don't let other people make you feel stupid because you think it was more than a coincedence. I believe that it was God answering your question. Things like that happen to me all the time. If you want to talk about anything, you can email me, letter11x@yahoo.com

Jesus did it cuz he loved us. As sinners, everyone in the world deserves to die for their sins, but Jesus was perfect and sinless, so he took the punishments for us, giving us an opportunity to spend eternal life in heaven with Him. All he asks is that we believe this and confess our sins and ask him for forgiveness and that we accept HIm in our heart, then we can go to Heaven.

It means just what it means. It's not really a strange experience or weird coincidence. There's so many commericials that are directed toward Christianity that it shouldn't be surprising. Jesus had compassion for us so that we may be forgiven for our sins and provided with an afterlife. He died so may live. northstar - Jesus knew that Judas was going to betray him and yet he did not flee town or try to stop him. He did not struggle. To the end, Jesus still believed in God.

A debate is not the place for comedic insults, all of the things you mention bare no level of meaning in any way, however I would bring to mind the fact that I have seen many of you say that you want God to speak to you, yet when He does it in ways like this youact like it is an impossibility. I am not saying that this is or is not God speaking, I am debating in hypotheticals.

Mathematically speaking, I would be shocked if somebody in our society who owned a T.V. set and watched it on a regular basis didn't see a segment on one channel and segment on another channel that go together. The only coincidence is that the first segment was a show about Jesus.

I am not bitter. It was an honest question touched with what I (and clpo) thought was light comedy. But if you want to jump down my throught too it's ok. Third dance ALMSIVI stops me from being bitter. quote: That is a very interesting experience, many things quite like that have happened to me and to people I know, I just wonder what you will do about it?
I am obviously going to look at the knots in my bedframe (where I have sofar in my life found a crocidile, a dancing woman, a bust, and a sheep) find the Virgin mary, then sell the mother****er for seventy million dollars to some religious maniac. Then I will retire to the Hamptons and finish my illuminated manuscript. duhhh.
