quote: He created a being who was evil. How can something purely good create something with a tinge of evil?
Actually Satan used to be an angle, who decided to try and over throw God. God does not deny free will. quote: So the Plagues are a work of the Morningstar then..
I’m sorry I should have clarified by statement, it was too broad. What I meant was things like 9-11, and Katrina were not sent by God. When God sends a physical punishment like that, which is rare, he tells the people that they are facing punishment. Like with Nineveh, were God warned them and they repented.

Without Jesus as the bridge to heaven, there are only the guidelines the Old Testament set forth.

Eh? Explain this please.

why?? You see I don't like a religion that makes you feel like that, that makes you afraid, among other things.

I know many Christians who "joined" the religon because they were scared. My dad is one of them. I joined because I have no hope left. Being Christian doesn't even give me hope, because I'm certain of my damnation, but it won't ever stop me from loving God. I dunno.

quote: And I am trying to explain this to you I will use little words when you don't have a relationship with God then you are happy but it is like you are not because you tend to feel like something is missing, therefore creating a false sense of happiness because you are happy (or you think you are) but you are not because in the end you keep worrying about what is missing.
Life sometimes feels empty, people wonder why they exist, what is the meaning of life and sometimes just for no reason they feel empty. Since they don't like to feel like that they MAKE UP a God. So I could actually say the same thing but the other way around, yours could be a false sense of happiness. But, as I was trying to explain to you, since I don't believe in God it is not my place to say that people who do have a false sense of happiness. Because I can't know that(since I don't believe in God). I hope you get that I was giving you that as an example, if not well...whatever. quote: some people just can't give up their cell phones and TV and cars and all that junk.
On this we agree. But I don't think he was talking about not wanting to give up materialistic things...anyway I don't know I can't talk for clpo. I still don't understand why not believing in God could possibly be selfish. quote: It is called EDUCATING. you know like when the people come in for sex talk week and they tell you about how if you have sex you will probably get a diease or get a baby and then they tell you about condoms but the best way is through not having sex at all. Remembering now? That is kind of what we do we give you a choice after educating you on all the possiblities. You can have sex or choose not to believe in God at all or... you can use a condom or believe in a false God or...You choose no sex at all or believe in Jesus.
You must live a sad life. The world isn't black and white. And if you have sex with the correct precautions you will not most likely get pregnant or get a disease, they tell you that to SCARE YOU

I cringe to say this, but I must back her up on this one. quote: It is called EDUCATING
No, you're preaching. Education should be done a bit nicer.

quote: I must confess that this sentence confused me a little; Christianity is not a religion because?
Because it is a relationship and the only way to God and religions are ways to TRY to get to God. And it is still not a tyranny. quote: wow... I thought we already went over this. Who are you to judge? You actually DO believe in God so how do you know if it's a FALSE sense of happiness.
And I am trying to explain this to you I will use little words when you don't have a relationship with God then you are happy but it is like you are not because you tend to feel like something is missing, therefore creating a false sense of happiness because you are happy (or you think you are) but you are not because in the end you keep worrying about what is missing. quote: why is his not believing in God selfish?
If you were to read his post it said: quote: But what about what I want? What if I don't want to be close to God (assuming I can even get past my skepticism to believe in him)
So I asked him why he had to be so selfish. It has nothing to do with not believing in God is selfish(even though in some cases it is...) Beacuse to live for God you have to be willing to give up everything and some people just can't give up their cell phones and TV and cars and all that junk. quote: yet you tell people that they should believe in God or will go to hell, you tell people that don't believe in God that they have a false sense of happiness, the list could go on.

It is in the old testament in the Bible. If you were not to believe in Jesus the old testament is what you have to go by to go to heaven. It deals with cain and able having to make up for their parents getting them kicked out of the garden of eden

quote: Satan for a time has a amount of power in the Universe because man open the Dore for Satan, But God has limited his Time, on earth. So God does Fight Satan, but does not stop every thing that Satan does.
Before someone asks why, I'd like to expand on this with a simple statement. Without hardship, you can't learn or grow. quote: God is not capable of evil
No, he is capable of everything. He created a being who was evil. How can something purely good create something with a tinge of evil? quote: Some Christians believe that God rains down Punishments on those whom he does not like. I do not believe this, and it is not a biblical idea.
So the Plagues are a work of the Morningstar then.. quote: God does tell you about himself. He talks to us through his word the Bible, and through other Christians. So God is using me to tell you about Him.
God uses whatever methods he deems neccesary. He never spoke to me through the bible or through xians. In fact, both those things turned me off to God. It was this world that he used to speak to me. This earth, this nature, this Land. He uses whatever language the individual understands. God is Order, but he is not limited to such.

quote: But God still let Satan do it.
Satan for a time has a amount of power in the Universe because man open the Dore for Satan, But God has limited his Time, on earth. That’s Because Christianity is the Only religion that Satan does not want you to be a part of. quote: God only responsible for the good things?
God is not capable of evil; he is above temptation, so every thing that comes from God is good. Some Christians believe that God rains down Punishments on those whom he does not like. I do not believe this, and it is not a biblical idea. quote: In fact, God has had ample time to tell me about him.

quote: Notice the IF. This had nothing to do with flaws in the language. Just admit that for once you were wrong.
No, honestly, you don't understand what I'm saying. And no I'm not f-ing wrong. You convenientally ignored the fact that I used the word "imply." We're both wrong, how about that? Just leave it alone, gods dammit. quote: By the way, everytime I've went back to the Christian religion, I've felt more miserable than when I'm not in the Christian religion. Why is that?
Because most Christians are idiots.

quote: Why do you want to be selfish? God has a time and a place for everything. Your time will come.
Because I'm human. God has given me no reason to worship him or love him. In fact, God has had ample time to tell me about him. I've gotten nothing in return, even when I was in the worst part of my crisis of faith. I asked God for guidance...and got nothing. I'm supposed to love him even though he abandoned me? Yeah, that's not happening. Love is like respect: it's earned, not freely given out.

quote: Actually Satan gave him Hell, and God put limitations on what Satan could do, restored Job after the Tragedy.
But God still let Satan do it. quote: Well one of the Reasons is that Satan attempts to deter people from becoming Christians. The second reason is that being aware of Gods laws will always make us fell the need for a savior.
My Problem isn't God. I'm fine when it's just God alone. I just can't handle Christianity. Oh, and LTR, I believe in an afterlife. But that's based on personal experiences. Just thought I'd put that out there.

quote: So are you saying the "god" of the universe doesn't have control?
God does have control of the big picture, and can interject in any situation. My point however is that he does not micro-manage everyone’s lives, and that we can’t blame every thing on God. For example God did not send Katrina, or 9-11 quote: None of these are religions, when one is not allowed to choose what to believe one does not follow a religion, he follow's tiranny.
Actually people are allowed to believe what they want to believe, Christians don’t walk around with guns forcing people to believe in God, or Die. And God does not force us to worship him. Christianity is not a tyranny. quote: This made me think of Job. God gave him Hell,
Actually Satan gave him Hell, and God put limitations on what Satan could do, restored Job after the Tragedy. quote: By the way, everytime I've went back to the Christian religion, I've felt more miserable than when I'm not in the Christian religion. Why is that?

quote: There is something about believing that after you die there is nothing that I find extremely comforting
I agree. Yet lots of people see it the other way around. Thinking that there's Heaven is comforting and thinking that there's nothing is what isn't.
