It's a little too nihilist for me. I think it's very purpose is self defeating. "There are no rules." Is that a rule? Is it against the rule if I make a rule for myself? While questioning rules and boundaries is good as it improves them, chaos for the sake of chaos is nonsensical and irrational. IMO True religion is a search for truth and meaning. This religion cannot fulfill either criteria.

Well Discordianism was formed by a couple people in... gosh awhile back. But it has it's primary roots in worship of the Goddess Eris (Greek Goddess of Discord/Chaos, in fact the faith takes it's name from her roman name "Discordia") so I would think it has a little more "street cred" then say scientology that obviously came from no where but an LSD trip gone horribly wrong. Your egypt example brings up an excellent point, how did some of the insane stuff found in most modern world religions come about? Hell in most religions for that matter. Was the orginal college of cardinals a betting pool? "hey bet you a fiver we can get them to belive this!"

Quite true. I think the difference is that most major religions developed over a large span of time (centuries or millennia) before becoming what they are now, while religions like this are a lot more modern, and actually created by a single person, as opposed to being shaped by many, many people over time. I don't know what it is about time that gives things credibility, but I agree that when you look closely at, say, Egyptian creation myths, you have to wonder if some priest was just really bored one day. (In case you're wondering, one of the ancient Egyptian creation myths is that a god was...er, pleasing himself and his seed became all of creation. Yeah.)

Same could be said of most major religions really

Anarchists have always kind of amused me, so it's natural that a religion based on chaos would amuse me even more. Who thinks up stuff like this? Seriously. Someone had too much time on their hands.

It sounds similar to kaos magic, though I don't know much about either. Your link also, did not work. But on chaos-centered religions, I have no problem with them. Chaos has its place, along with order. I have no leaning towards one or the other. Chaos inspires survival; order inspires safety. Which one do people value more? It all depends on the individual.
