"The Bible is not my book nor Christianity my profession. I could never give assent to the long, complicated statements of Christian dogma."

- Abraham Lincoln, American president (1809-1865).

"I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called religion than it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it."

"I cannot imagine a God who rewards and punishes the objects of his creation, whose purposes are modeled after our own -- a God, in short, who is but a reflection of human frailty. Neither can I believe that the individual survives the death of his body, although feeble souls harbor such thoughts through fear or ridiculous egotism."

"If people are good only because they fear punishment, and hope for a reward, then we are a sorry lot indeed."

-Albert Einstein, German-born American physicist

"I have found Christian dogma unintelligible. Early in life, I absenteed myself from Christian assemblies."

"Lighthouses are more helpful then churches."

-Benjamin Franklin, American Founding Father, author, and inventor

"It (the Bible) is full of interest. It has noble poetry in it; and some clever fables; and some blood-drenched history; and some good morals; and a wealth of obscenity; and upwards of a thousand lies."

"A man is accepted into a church for what he believes and he is turned out for what he knows."

"If there is a God, he is a malign thug."

- Samuel Clemens "Mark Twain", American author and humorist (1835-1910).

"Religions are all alike – founded upon fables and mythologies."

"I do not find in orthodox Christianity one redeeming feature."

"Christianity is the most perverted system that ever shone on man."

- Thomas Jefferson, U.S. President, author, scientist, architect, educator, and diplomat

It was we, the people; not we, the white male citizens; nor yet we, the male citizens; but we, the whole people, who formed the Union.... Men, their rights and nothing more; women, their rights and nothing less. ~Susan B. Anthony

Well it is good to see that Google is still functioning properly. Was the search criteria something like, "Anti-Religious Quotes"?

"It was wonderful to see the change soon made in the manners of our inhabitants...From being thoughtless or indifferent about religion, it seemed as if all the world were growing religious, so that one could not walk through the town in an evening without hearing psalms sung in different families of every street." [Philadelphia, 1730's, on the effects of George Whitefield's preaching]

"I never was without without some religious principles. I never doubted, for instance, the existence of the Deity; that He made the world, and governed it by His Providence; that the most acceptable service of God was the doing good to man; that our souls are immortal; and that all crime will be punished, and virtue rewarded, either here or hereafter."

-Benjamin Franklin

"Many people wish the Bible to overawe them, as Sinai did the Israelites...who worshiped it one day and danced around a calf the next."

-Ward, Beecher, Henry

"Providence has at all times been my only dependence, for all other resources seemed to have failed us."

- George Washington

"A simple, childlike faith in a Divine Friend solves all the problems that come to us by land or sea."

- Helen Keller

It's pretty easy....

I suppose you know this because you know them personally?
