quote: REPENT YOU FILTHY FOOL! CLEANSE YOUR SOUL OF SIN AND PRAISE THE LORD OR BE FOREVER CAST OUT OF HIS KINGDOM! MUA HA HA Ha...
Ok you are totally making fun of me. I am a christian and I am to suppose to forgive people like you, for making fun of me. I am going to forgive you, but I think that you should really ask God for forgiveness. Oneday you are gonna wish you had of and that when it's gonna be to late. http://www.wiliambranham.com

Rugar - Um...well to put it simply, mostly what Clpo said. I just find it hard to believe. It's not like I've been an atheist or anything my whole life. Infact, I grew up in a Chrstian Church. I'm just finding out things I didn't know about Christianity before, and I don't like what I'm finding. Stuff about history of the Bible and it's accounts and stuff. Hard to explain. So...yeah. Guess that's it.

quote: hey homeboy these aren't my threats...Their God's promises
Promises to whom? Must I observe promises that don't apply to me? Besides, who's to say God (whose existence we can't even prove) will keep those promises? Should I live in fear of a supposed being and his threats which may never come true? You'll have to do better than that. quote: Why don't you believe in God or the Bible anymore? Can you help me understand why? To make a long story short, I am a freethinker and religion doesn't really advocate that. The God as Christians portray him doesn't make much sense, and the Bible, while historically accurate in some parts, is full of more fiction than a fantasy novel. A flood that covered the whole world? Give me a break.

Lizzy- Hey, I know you are trying to help. Thank you, but it's not gonna help me. No hard feelings intended. I don't believe the Bible to be true, or God. I was there once, trying to 'enlighten' people. I totally understand. Just be careful who your audience is.

Well, that subject came up quicker than expected. Apparently my mom has noticed me acting 'differently' lately. She thinks she should be worried. Kinda told her I don't believe I need to be a Christian. She flipped out and yelled at me. I told her nicely. Whatever. Great, now I'm all depressed. Whatever, I'll get over it. So...yeah. Can't wait til Dad gets home. (sarcasm) Thanks for all the help guys. Kirsty

Thanks guys, I think tonight's the night. My dad gets home from Hockey soon and my mom is winding down. Thanks for all your help. Clpo - I think that's what I'm gonna be doing for a long time, just because my parents really want me going to church. Lizzy - thanks for trying but if I don't believe in God, scripture ain't gonna help. Thanks again guys. Kirsty

Let me just give you this scripture... My people who do not believe will be destroyed, because they have no knowledge. You have refused to learn, so I will refuse to let you be mine. You have forgotten the teachings of your God, so I will forget you and your children. I will repay you for the wrong you have done. -Hosea 4:6

I went through almost the exact same thing. I decided that I no longer wanted to be Christian quite a while ago, after being a semi-devout Lutheran for almost my whole life. However, I still go to church and fake the whole "good Christian" stuff because I don't really want to get into a big confrontation with my parents. I already did once, when my mom looked over a scholarship application I had that asked what religion I was. I had marked "none" and she flipped. Things have mostly cooled down, but not to the point that they'll let me skip out on church. I'm planning on abandoning religion completely when I go off to college, but for now I'm just appeasing my parents. If you want to tell yours about your decision, by all means go ahead. Just do it a little better than I did.

Just bring it up in a nonthreatening manner. Don't be definite, I suggest phrasing it something like this: "Mom, Dad, I've been doing alot of thinking lately and I think that for now it would be best if I didn't attend church until I get my feelings on religion entirely worked out" That way it gives you time to work out the whole religion thing and gets you out of church. My only advice is...don't do it Sunday before Church. Break it to them at a low-stress time of day. Maybe start with a little, "I'd really like to stop attending Church.." and take it from there.
A lo hecho, pecho.
