O of where dost thou hail, Celephanil, Celephanil? Why dost thou wander in Tengelwar great, why on the sea do you sail?

Really?! I never noticed that! Seriously, though, I don't think that's a valid argument at all. They aren't Christian because they have the word "Christ" in them. They're named that BECAUSE of Christ, who existed BEFORE the words did.

of course!!! I mean, if you really look closely, Christmas and Christian have the words Christ on it... Plus, i want to share this... When we had our recollection in school, the priest told us that CHRISTIAN means.... if you take out the word Christ, all is left is IAN which means: I-i A-am N-nothing. Therefore, without Christ, WE ARE NOTHING.. and if anyone here will say this is all a joke, i dont think it is.... i truly believe in Jesus no matter what.

After the first three sentences, i tuned out. Okay, please, for the love of god, this will not turn into another christian vs. nonchristian brawl board. we all have our different inputs on what christmas and it's meanings. let's leave it there?

Way, way, way too long for me to read, but... at least Christmastime is pagan. Or maybe the celebrations. But I don't think the concept is.
It's funny that this should come up now, because in my Latin class, I was doing a report on the festival of Saturnalia. Apparently, the church decided to make "Jesus's birthday" occur during Saturnalia because the pagans already had a holiday then.

I didin't read it. Too long, and I don't find the need to know this. I will say, I have heard Christmas had pagan origins, but then again, all religions have one way or the other.

That is way too long to read, but yes, Christmas is Christian, what it was based on, however, is not. Yule is very very Pagan.
