I just wanted to know if anyone was thinking about this like I was. Organized relgion doesn't really make sence to me. I mean, you should be able to believe what you want. I believe in God, I just don't believe in some of the things he said/did. Like Gay Marriage. You should be able to marry whomever you want. But back to the real subject at hand. Do you really think you should follow one relgion when there's many out there? Why have to choose one? If you don't think I'm making sence then let me know.. but this is just what I think.

Do you have proof that it does? Take a look... Korith: thank you

I myself could point out several "contradictions" in the bible. At least what would appear to be. Make no mistake, a face value reading of scripture will yield many places where the bible says one thing, and later another. Read the Book of Ecclesiastes for such. However, a deeper look will reveal that the supposed "contradictions" are false, and can be explained with logic and reason. Matter of factly, I challenge anyone here to present me with an unexplainable biblical contradiction.

Not true. The book of Deuteronomy frequently clashes with the first four books of the Hebrew Bible.

quote: I personally do not really believe int he bible. It was written by man, and as we all know, man is prone to over exagerate, lie, and so on. History is never really a for sure deal, unless you have many different accounts of the same thing from different people, and for this reason I do not rely on the bible to guide me in any religious aspect.
Yes, man is known to exagerate, lie, etc. So, if the Bible had been written by one person, it would probably not be very believable. But, however, the Bible was by 40 different men in a time span of 1,500 years and never once contradicts itself, nor does it contradict anything else historacally or geographcally.
And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

The point is that people have individual beliefes, and if they do not fall into a certain organized religion then that doesn't mean that there is all of a sudden somehting wrong with that person. If you choose not to participate in an organised religion then I don't think that there is anyhting wrong with that. Just because there isn't a name for your feelings or beliefs does not make them invalid.

Why wouldn't you follow one religion? If you don't your not following any religion at all, so YES I do think following a certain religion is right! (christianity!)

I read that quote, and all I am saying is that it is wrong, according to a male witch friend I have and the research I have done. Maybe the thing is just that both despise being called the name of the other. It is of no consequence to me, I do not practice it.

Wait, wait, wait. Jenos, read that Wicca quote over again. Wiccans prefer Wiccan over witch because witch puts them in a bad light because of misconceptions. ReGeneration: Nothing I didn't already know. I make very sure I know what I'm talking about before I go on a rant because I know I'll get burned if I say something totally out there. However, it's not my fault if I go to a religion's website and they give me wrong info. Just a friendly reminder. So, since I know enough about Wicca, I think I'm qualified to trash it for its weirdness.

And you as well. And I do not like organized religion, for the record.

I already have. I have been studying many organized religions for years, including witchcraft. My entire family is extreme conservative non-denominational christians, and it can be annoying.

thank you jenos. the most annoying thing to me are the people who refuse to research certain religions, but want to trash them. i was southern baptist until i was 13, i was never VERY religious, but, my whole family (except for me and my mom) are southern baptist - family gatherings can be religious revivals on their own. i try not to say anything offensive about christians as a whole, and i know that not all of the christians who go to YN refuse to see the other side of different religions - to go on actual pagan or muslim or jewish of hindu, etc websites or read their literature...thanks if you do. there are so many choices of faith, why decline an opportunity for a possibly enlightening experience?

thank you so freakin much jenos. i couldnt have said it better myself. i know that many people are not aware of this fact - they have been told otherwise their whole lives - but witches/pagans dont believe in the devil, satan, prince of darkness...whatever. this doesnt exist to us. we dont believe in hell either. the hollywood version of the witch is the hocus pocus poo-stank, with the ragged old crone with a wart on her nose (possible hair attached) who rides alond on her broom stick (besom) at night to sneak into little children's rooms and gobble them up. bah-hum-bug. the broom is a phallic symbol, fertility. some people also believe that a warlock is a male witch...not true, a warlock is a person who has decieved or harmed their coven in some way. the crystal wavin' new agers bother me a teeny bit. or the people who say theyre witches and then try to work love spells or some other kind of spell that bends somebody else's will. that's bullsh*t. if anyone ever tells you that they are a witch and they are going to put a hex on you...they are not a witch. that goes against our crede...and karma will come back to them. i could go on for days... oh! and people who are wicca believe in this inner light thing thats goodnes...i cant remember exactly right now....darn. nevermind.

A wiccan is but a wannabe witch. True witches don't publicize their religious practices because it is simply between them and their gods. Of course wiccans are going to call themself witches because they want to be know as so, but the more mature witches want to have no association with wicca, as it puts witches in a bad light. And I know this because one of my friends is a male witch and has been for over a decade.

quote: There is a difference between a witch and a wiccan.
Then explain this: This is why many who follow these nature oriented beliefs have adopted the name of Wicca over its true name of Witchcraft to escape the persecution, harassment and misinformation associated with the name of Witchcraft and Witch not to mention the bad publicity the press and Hollywood has given us simply to generate a profit.I got that from a page on Wicca.com. I would think Wiccans would know what they're talking about when they refer to themselves as witches. And I personally know a Wiccan who occasionally calls herself a witch and peforms witchcraft (which I personally think is complete bullsh*t but she won't listen to me).
