First off, I'm sorry if a thread like this has already been posted- and yes, I am a mormon. From searching around in this site, I have found that most of you have a distinct dislike of Mormons in general, or that you have questions about the religion.

Now, I'm not perfect, I probably can't answer all the questions, but I will do my best. I also can't promise that I agree with everything about my religion, but if I do disagree, I'll state the churches opinion first, and then my own. So, anyone have any questions and/or complaints?

"under the banner of heaven" is a great example of the extremists of mormonism. It's slightly depressing though.

first i'd like to say i respect mormons greatly, they are very nice people, but thier book dosen't even make a little sense. i meen how dosn't it shake your faith that in the BOM the people ride in chariots that they didn't have the tecknology to make and the charriots were pulled by horses that are proven wern't here at that time.

First off, i am thrilled you started this board. It's about time someone started talking about religion without bashing or making up phony explanations. Well, i'm really sorry that a lot of people stereotype the mormons, and it's not fair. Too many people here do that, and i'm not mormon, but it makes me mad. But i have a question, although some mormons take that offensively, they do it back to us(aka: people who are not mormons) They call our religion a joke if it's not theirs, and my sister has a lot of mormon friends, and their parents told them they needed to tell her to leave because she was the only "genitil" there. Can you explain, or is that not common?

^_^ *Laughs* Perfectly stated my friend. People also think that we have camera's at our school but all they are is motion detecter's so that they'll know if people break into the school.

they make u have lots and lots of children

Your other question reminds me of a question on another board that asks why we want to be eternally pregnant. It is difficult for members to be childless as a lot of the focus is family oriented, but it is not a commandment for people to have children. That would be foolish, as some women and men are incapible of doing so.

0.o I am not sure where your friend lives, but not all of this is remoteloy correct. We have a microphone in our building and you can listen to what is being said when the microphone is on, but this is not used for spying. It is used so larger groups of people can listen to our stake confrences. As for the cameras I have never seen any, but some buildings may have them for security such as in high gang consentration areas.
Having lots of children is not required. We believe that we are to multiply and replenish the earth and so some people may misconcieve this. Also not beleiving stories from The Book of Mormon is going to make you go to hell, no. We believe that the book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. I hope this answers your rumors. I do not think so. I am almost positive they are free, but you need to make an apointment. you also need an interview from your bishop (equivilant to a pastor) and a stake president (equivilent to regional High Priest). They will give you a temple reccomend saying you can go to the temple and then the Temple President will do your ceremony and seal you as an eternal family.

none taken. Sorry if it seemed that way.

Your sect of Christianity promotes commercialism just as much as the next one; therefore, I have no problem with it.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have some Buddhist a$$ to kick.

Sorry. Didn't mean to be misleading, just a few things with current events and the churches stance.

I heard that at the temple in San Diego (which is impossible to get into unless you are high up in the LDS church)

All temples are open to everyone who is over the age of 12 and has had an interview with their bishop. Money is not involved. I actually have a few friends who live in San Diego who said they visited a temple. I'm guessing it's the San Diego temple.

You don't mean tithing do you? Every church member has to give 10% of their income to the church for the church to use in service. But paying tithing does not buy your way into the temple.

What's up with the ceremonial underwear and touching the hand of god in the temple?

It's also to remind people to stay morally clean, and to wear modest clothing.

As for touching the hand of god... I've never heard of it *shrugs* I'm guessing it's just a rumor.

Hahaha, shows her lack of editing skills. Was that Betsy or whatever. And Uptown, thanks for showing that some people actually know what their talking about before posting. You got it right.

And Tiggere... welcome to this democratic, (mostly) anti-christian site full of friends that could last you a lifetime. Smile

They aren't ceremonial underwear. They are garments. We wear them after you have been sealed to your spouse for eternity. As for the touching of the hand of God, I am not sure what you are talking about.

I read your question. It intrigues me yet puzzles me on whom you are talking about. Are you speaking of our prophet or God or whom? I am thoroughly lost crzyme. Please. Elaborate
