I just thought I would share this. It is one of Jesus' most famous sermons, and It is (in my opinion) the Character requirments to being a "Christian". So I though I might post it and see what you all think, as it applies to Christian behavior today...

"Now when [Jesus] saw the crowds, [Jesus] went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, and he began to teach them saying: “Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled. Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called sons of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you."
-Matthew 5:1-11 emphases added

"I am a Christian, in the only sense in which he wished anyone to be: sincerely attached to his doctrines in preference to all others, ascribing to himself every human excellence, and believing he never claimed any other." -Thomas Jefferson

Wow... thank you for that. I never went to a religious school, and I am in the process of reading the Bible little by little. But, when I see something that inspires me i really appreciate it and that inspired me. Thank you.

Except most Christians fail to remember them.

I like your Christ but I do not like your Christians. They are so unlike your Christ. - Ghandi (I think)

I remember in 5th grade eons ago we had to know them by heart. I hated them then, but now I think it is a good way to live your life.

It is essential that justice be done, and it is equally vital that justice not be confused with revenge, for the two are wholly different. OSCAR ARIA
