I have recently learned a little bit about the Seven Chakras and what they pertain to, where they are in our body, etcetera. I have also discovered that three or four are underactive. I am trying the exercises, and I think I am becoming more balanced and energetic throughout my body. I believe in the existence, even if it is simple psychology, of chakras.

Have you heard of chakras? Do you believe in the existence of chakras? Do you know of other holistic concepts?

Here's a page a quick google search gave me: http://www.sacredcenters.com/chakras.html . You could also go to the universal resource: a library. They're sure to have books on it.

It all depends on what you believe. Chances are the more people that are in tune with what you are feeling and claim to be empaths, most likely are not lying. That is just what I have to say with my experience.

It's just what I call her, actually, but I've found that there's quite a few of them- Jews by birth who are practicing Buddhists.

It frusterates me that I can't prove it to myself one way or another whether empathy etc. is real. I thought I saw my own aura once, by practicing one of the exercises I found for those kinds of things, but that's it. I know people who claim to read auras, and they do seem to be more in tune with what I'm feeling than everybody else, but I feel like it could be coincedences.

It is really interesting, though.

Jews for Buddha? Now that is something new.

Sho, I have experienced telepathy once, but never since. The circumstances were rather unique. I have also experienced empathy quite often, and can sometimes sense auras - not see them, and only if in that person's presence with concentration.

It is all rather interesting.

It's kind of in my genetics to know about this stuff. My mom is a tai chi teacher and a hypnotist. My stepmom is a Jews for Buddha and lived at a meditation center for five years before marrying my dad.

Anyway, yeah, I've been reading about some of the stranger holistic theories lately, because they're interesting. What do you guys think of auras? And all this psychic stuff, telekenesis and empathy and all the rest? I'm trying to reserve judgement until I can learn more about it.

I spent about a year studying chakras as I do reiki. I believe in them, but if, for example, I get lung cancer, I won't blame it on my chakras. As in, I don't lean my life to my faith on chakras.

Being an Indigo Child, I have actually "felt" the crown chakras various times and have it very active. But whether you believe in this or not is your discretion so I won't force it onto anyone.

And yeah, I know of almost all holistic concepts. I work at a store that deals with holistic books and items, and the last part of my name has to do with it (the New Ager part).

I don't believe in chakras. As you said, it's simple psychology. I could put four cheeseburgers on four strategically placed parts of my body, and achieve the same result under intense concentration and relaxation.

The whole concept was just relaxation with ties to the gods each chakra is supposed to connect to.

If you believe they'll work, and do the breathing and the relaxation, it'll work regardless of what they are and where they're placed. It's all mysticism and craziness.

My mom is into this kind of thing. She is a licensed massage therapist and reiki practitioner (reiki has to do with the chakras and balancing them). I don't know that much about it, though, just because it's not my thing. I'm more into gems and crystals and the nature part more than the chakras themselves. But I haven't researched/studied into either section in quite awhile, since I'm been really busy with other stuff.

As far as "believing" in chakras...how can someone not?

If you are looking for some more info, I can always ask my mom any questions you may have and you might be able to answer them.
