Woah had a crazy spontaneous random (yes both words mean the same thing)question for everyone, and everyone better answer. anyway, out of complete curiosity...what is your religion?? mine is...well actually i don't know what mine is but u can pretend im christian...i was baptized anglican...but i like being free from religion and what you are suposed to believe. Well anyway it'll be really interesting to see the diversity of YN. ps don't forget to put your denomination instead/as well as the overall religion ex: Christianity - Jehovah's Witness or Islam - Shiite (did i spell that right? i hope so) etc. have fun guys wow im in a good mood later

christian-protestant. have been methodist, congregational, presbyterian, lutheran. really it doesn't matter what denomination you are. the individual church matters more.

thank god for secularism. hehehehe bit of a paradox i know but in my country there is no religious pressure, because nobody is religious, and if you are and discuss it openly you will be greeted by some funny looks. Religion I believe should be this way, private and personal and out of the faces of everybody who gets by just fine without it.

On a side note I believe athiests deserve the same respect and consideration when it comes to our beliefs. long live science, reason and understanding uninhibited from the shackles of a higher belief and a feeling of inferiority. People are their own gods.

I was raised Catholic (Christian) and it was just kind of not working for me for a while, so I explored different faiths (even though my parents still force me to go to their church...urgh...). But, for about a year now I have recognized myself as agnostic deist; but I've taken "religion quizzes" that say I most closely (between 10 'major' religions) identify with unitarian universalism because I like the idea of acceptance in religion and that your religion is your opinion.

But beside that, I'm agnostic deist, because I believe there is a god who created the universe and that's all. That god made a system of evolution, etc. and stays out of our affairs. Also, I don't believe in a hell, people are inherantly good, and when we die- we will all go to a heavenly place. (Kind of like the song "Imagine" -now that's a paradise).

I also like much of the idea of Buddhism! What it boils down to is your religion is what makes you most comfortable about you and your life. If pleasing your parents makes you more comfortable than you would choose your parents religion. Many of the "Christians" in my area, are Christians because they're parents are that way, their friends are that way, or because they like the idea of sinning and then repenting and making it all better...in my area you kind of get ostricized for not being christian...it stinks...but anyway, this novella is long enough...

[B]horsey: I'm not and atheist and if I said that and confused you, I was probably in a very cinical (sp?) mood. I think I'm agnostic because I think there is something, but no one will ever be able to prove it to me unless this God starts whispering in my ear (highly unlikely as he's/she's/it's possibly got a whole universe to keep in check).

I believe God and ı do not care about religions. I think that all religion have got same God. I mean that ıf ı am muslim, ıt does not mean that my god different than a Christian's God. So, the important point is to believe God.You can easily understand ı am not an atheist.

I'm in between atheism and agnosticism.........moreso atheist. There could be a God, but I don't beleive there is.

I was raised Independent Baptist, but i don't like affiliations with any certain denomination. So you could just say that i read the bible as much as i can to learn everything that my friend Jesus and his Dad have to say to me about my life and whether or not it was worth him dieing for me to live like i do. It's probably the coolest religion, at least the best i know of. Hearing the voice of the Eternal God of everything telling me that he loves me is awesome.

I'm definitely not an atheist because I believe in an Creator of sorts, but one cannot know, prove, or disprove the presence of this being (thus the agnostic). And the Creator doesn't play a role in the lives of ordinary (or extraordinary) people. That's the basic principle of deism.

To outline my beliefs would take a long time, so I'll just stick to the basics:

I believe that some sort of trans-dimensional being (referred to either as the Creator or him) created our universe, which is merely one in an infinite multiverse containing countless other universes. The Creator is like a gardener. He creates the universes tends to them when they need it, but for the most part leaves well enough alone. However, the universe is too complicated and coincidental for things to have happened just by random. So I believe the Creator pre-programmed things into the universe. Set parameters for events, evolution, etc. But things can change within those parameters, allowing evolution and mutation. Look at viruses, for instance. Why would a god create semi-lifeforms that mutate almost constantly? Obviously they've changed over time to come to be like this.

As for what happens after we die, I have no clue. I'd like to think that everyone will have a personal and unique afterlife that is exactly how they expect and/or want it to be. Is that neccessarily true? I guess I'll find out when I die.
