Huh...when I looked earlier, I didn't see any of Capernaum's posts. Maybe I'm going blind...

Capernaum 1. I didn’t say that all Jews were perfect or were going to heaven; however the fact that Jews aren’t exempt from judgment doesn’t mean that the Westboro Baptist church can hate them. 2. the point with the legal system is that they bash the very thing that they are a part of. they take advantage of the judicial protection offered to them by America’s tolerance of free speech, and they are a part of the judicial system yet they bash it because they attack everything that is not connected to their church. 3. yes people who reject Christ don’t have him; however they can still change their mind and accept Christ. The point is that we aren’t all domed to hell and it is not too late to pray. 4. first of all your response to this point was needlessly harsh. Secondly how does Gods freedom have anything to do with him being a terrorist? Also God can not be evil so saying that he is a terrorist doesn’t make any sense. 5. yes bad things happen to good and bad people, however the Westboro Baptists don’t have the right to decide if the bad thing was the work of God or not. They just look at current events and label things as works of God or the devil as they see fit. Since when do they get to define what God does? 6. they defiantly should be more selective, the point is they aren’t. The subject matter that they are exposing their kids to at a very young age is not appropriate. Also they are doing much more then informing their kids. They are immersing them into activism on the issue at a very young age. By the time the kids are old enough to make their own decision on the matter they have been bombarded with messages of hate to the point that they can no longer see the truth. It is truly very sad and is why I support having their kids taken out of their custody even tough I typically don’t support such measures.

Capernaum, please refrain from using sexist remarks, especially when asked not to.
In a situation where a moral decision must be made, we should always choose truth, in the expansion and enrichment of knowledge, in ourselves and others, and at all levels of our being.

Indeed, we're non-smokers. And we don't much care for bundles of sticks, either.

The first part is Biblical, up until the favouring a demon... Dear friend, Capernaum, please do not use the word "fag" here.

quote: God can do whatever He wants and those that don't submit to Him will be cast into hell. He is a jealous God and He doesn't want His children favoring some fag ass demon that was cast out of Heaven to screw that up!
Did God leave you a voicemail telling you this? Sent you an email, did he? I mean, you can't seriously think you can speak for God, do you? Unless you've met him or spoken to him, you can't say what he does or does not want.

In response to Nephilem's post, 1. Jews aren't exempt from God's wrath if they don't repent of their sins. 2. They hate the legal system but someone needed to take a stand for the minorities in Topeka. Not everyone likes their job, even some that are proficient in it. 3. Well, I could offer someone free tickets to a movie but if they keep refusing to take them then guess what? They don't have them! 4. God can do whatever He wants and those that don't submit to Him will be cast into hell. He is a jealous God and He doesn't want His children favoring some fag ass demon that was cast out of Heaven to screw that up! 5. God allows certain things to happen good or bad and some things never change because of people repeating the same mistakes. 6. They are simply telling them how such an abomination is sending many straight to hell. I do think they should be more selective in how they inform their kids but they need to know!

It still works as a deterrent, though. Considering their (alleged) finances, they can't afford a lawsuit that might actually cost them money. They now know that people aren't afraid to sue and that courts aren't afraid to rule against them. Free speech can only protect you so much...

Unfortunately this will come from our tax dollars, however, and not from the group themselves (who probably don't pay taxes anyway).

I am very happy today, because America just won a big victory against this group of haters. Marine took the “church” to court and won 10.9 Million in damages!! Here’s a link to this story. Jury Awards Father Nearly $11 Million in Funeral Protesters CaseIt was about time that someone cracked down on this horrible group, hopefully that will crush their ability to drive around and protest at funerals. The funny thing is that members of the group protested in front of the court overt the entire process. They are so dumb they completely turned everyone who went near the court building against them. Arrogant fools.

I saw some videos about this online. The little kids holding those signs just broke my heart. quote: they live by the BIBLE'S STANDARD. So insulting the rest of the human race is living by the "bible's standards"? Doesn't God want us to love each other and be tolerant? This religion goes against like all of the basic morals other churches have. And again...those little kids? quote: I hate how the girl doesn't know and looks like she just wants to cry because of it.
That was so sad.

I am a part of The Westboro Baptist Church, a former member of every saturday and sunday church as well as every picket I could attend. They ARE great people, they live by the BIBLE'S STANDARD. Period.

I know about them enough to be really annoyed. When I saw a video of them, and saw a bunch of the signs they carry, I almost cried. That is SICK! And the fact that they've got young kids holding those signs....
Just because you tolerate something doesn't mean you like it, it just means you're willing to live with the fact that it's there

There are so many ridicules things about that group, hers just a few things 1. They hate Jews; well Jesus was a Jew as were all the writers of the bible, so they really also hate the people that they claim to love. 2. They hate the legal system and say that it is a “legislative Taliban”, and yet many of them are lawyers. 3. they say that its “to late to turn from our sins, or to pray,” but then call on us to repent, how can we repent if we are domed to hell 4. They say that God is a terrorist. To me that’s not the most complementary thing to say about your God. 5. They say that IED’s are the tool of God, yet when there church was hit a couple of years ago with an IED, it was the work of the Devil and they were saved by the hand of God. 6. They teach sexual purity, and then expose their children from the age of four to alternate sexual life styles, and sexually graphic conversations, and signs. quote: Anyways, now that I know the real reason they use the word fag, I don't need to pretend they hate sticks. They're just poor linguists who reference the most obscure Bible verse ever to justify hating everyone. Right.
They probably haven’t even read any of the New Testament. They only know verses that they can twist to fit their perverted idea of God.

Well, fag is just short for faggot. It can still mean the sticks bit. Incidentally, WBC's rationale for using "fag" is exactly that. Apparently, some Bible verse (in the book of Amos of all places) says, "I have overthrown some of you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and ye were as a firebrand plucked out of the burning: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the Lord." (Amos 4:11) They claim that the word "firebrand" is translated from the Hebrew word "uwd" which means "to rake together." Through some convoluted and rather iffy logic, they conclude that God was talking about homosexuals in a metaphorical sense in that "they fuel God's wrath, they burn in lust, and they will burn in hell" (straight from their site). In other words, firebrand can be replaced with faggot, which they use to indicate gays, gay supporters, or anyone who isn't part of their church. They claim that this verse is talking about Soddom and Gommorrah. However, this is patently not the case. If any of them had graduated from the third grade, they'd realize that the "you" preceding firebrand is actually referring to the Israelites, who God is giving a really hard time and wondering why they aren't returning to him. Now, the good folks at WBC claim that anyone who turns from God automatically becomes gay (I'd like to know how they back that up theologically), so I suppose the intent of the verse means the same thing to them as if it was talking about Sodomites. Doesn't make them any more right (or even credible), so it's all good. Anyways, now that I know the real reason they use the word fag, I don't need to pretend they hate sticks. They're just poor linguists who reference the most obscure Bible verse ever to justify hating everyone. Right.

quote: If it helps, the next time you hear them railing against fags, just remember that a fag is either a cigarette or a bundle of sticks. It kind of disarms their argument if you imagine them hating sticks.
A faggot is a bundle of sticks. I believe a fag is only a cigarette. I'm actually reading a book where it uses faggot in that sense. It was kind of weird, but refreshing to know that it was being used in the actual sense. I do like the sensory idea, though. Hey! Maybe they're actually against cigarettes!
