I'm not trying to bash religion I'm just trying to understand how people put sooo much faith into extremely old ways of thinking with no real evidence to prove that it exists. I'm an atheist and I find religion a hard concept to wrap my mind around

I have faith because, I, personally know that God exicts. He has changed my life.

If you know something is true, you don't have doubts, even if others don't.
Besides, I have the Bible.

It depends on the person. Some people have faith in their religion because they don't know what else to do. They've never experienced anything else and they aren't likely to. They were brought up believing that they had to have faith, and so they have faith.

Other people have faith because they have seen it in action. People who see divine intervention in daily life. I can't tell you why some people are like this, though. My girlfriend isn't religious, but she's much more spiritual than I am. In other words, she's more likely to call something a miracle, whereas I would call that same thing luck or happenstance. Why? I have no idea.

I guess some people are just born with an innate sense that there's something larger out there, while others are born without that sense. It's funny, too, since I was brought up a Christian, but I never really believed in it like some people do, even as a child. I believed because I was told to, but as I got older, I started questioning things. But there are people out there who will never do that, and I can't understand that kind of blind faith at all.

I am Buddhist. I have the faith I do in my religion because I have seen the proof that living in harmony with other people & nature & your own self causes true inner happiness & peace because you are not fighting anything or anyone. I have the faith I do because of the strength I have. The teachings don't tell people how god can save them, but how they can save themselves.
I understand your way of thinking though.
