I don't believe in a religious God, but neither am I an atheist. Even though I have nothing against people who hold no religious beliefs, so-called "evangelical atheists" bug me a lot. It's one thing to believe something, but it's quite another thing to attack others for not believing similarly. Christians can be the same way, but at least they have some kind of justification (even if it's one I don't necessarily agree with): the Bible says to spread the message. For atheists, there really is no reason to attack religion. Some may see religion as a disease that must be cured, but I think that's a rather extreme stance. Religion in itself is not harmful to society. A religion that oppresses members of other religions or the non-religious, however, is a problem, and thus I can understand railing against organized religion. But religious belief, even if I don't really have any, is something important to some people, and thus it shouldn't be attacked. It's like attacking someone for what television shows they like. What they believe doesn't hurt anyone, so why stand so strongly against it? As long as they don't push it on you, everything should be fine.
The more you know, the less you don't know.
