So...almost no one today believes in the Greek gods, the Roman gods, the Norse gods, or any other old religion. What makes one religion "True" and another one "myth"? Is there some element that makes the beliefs of one culture more likely to be true than the beliefs of another?

Concerning religions that a god controls the moon, another god controls the sea, a goddess control something else, etc, I don't think they are as "popular" anymore because there is more logic. People know what happens with the sea, the moon, etc. It's scientific and we have proof to it. So they don't think that because there is logic to it. However, then why do people believe in God, Jesus Christ if there isn't any proof to that? Well, there sort of is from the Bible. I guess some people wouldn't say that's hard proof or logical thinking. However, it has more proof than different Gods and Goddess controlling different things.

Also, it may be society base too. People see all these people believing in this one thing and they learn to believe in too. Maybe they confuse seeing all these people believing in something with them actually believing in it themselves. Then there is some people who go their own way. Some people without realizing do the same thing because most people are doing it too. Maybe it’s the same with religion, you see a lot of people following this religion and you just fall into it, maybe you think you believe in it but it’s not actually the truth. Maybe because there is some many people in this one religion, these people are influencing other people, so you get more and more. I don’t know if that makes sense.

I just wonder if there is so many Christians because people actually believe in it or it’s just because the person is falling into society without realizing it and having other people influence them?

I believe in God, I just don’t know about Christianity. I'm still learning.

Have a nice day...

Yeah, I understand why these religions are more popular, I just want the more dogmatic people on the board to give their opinion of why they think their system is more true.

And what was so offensive about my inciting people on here to bash each other that it had to be edited? Surely mod6 knows me well enough that I'm encouraging debate and not hatred.

Yes, and I suppose when there's a major history of warfare (i.e. the Christian Crusades) that involves all three major religions, more people will follow those because they have spread farther. Not to mention someone might've killed you had you persisted. Domination is the key.

That modern beliefs have more written records, I think.

Shock value and advertisement. Most of the older "pagan" religions didn't have any sort of rewards/punishments system like the Big 3 religions (Christianity, Judaism, Islam) do. In Greek and Egyptian thought, when you died, you died. Everyone went to Hades, but Hades didn't equal hell back then. Hades was the "land of the dead," not the "land of the damned."

Now, the Big 3 religions say, "If you're a good Christian/Jew/Muslim, you'll go to paradise. If you're not, you'll go to hell." And nobody wants to be eternally punished for something as simple as not believing, so those religions have stayed around more.

Now, as to what makes them more believeable/true than another...can't help you there. I don't think any religion is true, regardless of how "authentic" they seem.
