I have heard from a lot of people that they are offened by someone talking about their beliefs. Why is it so offensive to them? Why must they complain about something like this? Are most people offended, or are the looking for attention? I'm going to go with the second answer there. I'm a Christian and i know very well why I believe what I believe, because i've looked it up, and tried to find the answers to my questions. Most people never even do this, yet they are offended when i talk about Christianity by them, because it's imposing on their "own BELIEFS". To believe something means to : adhere to, to conform to, to obey, to rely upon. Do they really know why they believe what they believe? Why is it so offensive to them that even the word God is brought up. The wonderful Judicial system is now trying to get rid of the 10 commandments because it's not seperation of church and state, and here's the funny part: it says no where in the constitution that we need church and state. The only thing that is written in there states, that the Government isn't allowed to control the church, not the other way around. I believe that mainstream america is now trying to get rid of Christianity. Most non-christians that I have talked to have said this, "well don't you think as a Christian that you are neglecting the other religions such as Hinduism, or the Muslims?" Why are we Christians the one's who are despised the most? What is it that they despise so much? This is what i wonder. I'll leave the rest to you.

What Celtic and Korith said (well...the "let's be real" part anyways). There's a difference from talking about your beliefs and trying to force them down someone else's throat.
Belief makes things real/Makes things feel, feel alright/Belief makes things true/Things like you, you and I

Agreed. I was once again speaking in generalities. Let me say instead, that the situation that I was brought up in certainly bordered on "brain washing".

There is no "brain-washing". They just believe becuase they think it is true, just like you believe without any brainwashing involved.

Lets be real. Someone who believes something you don't doesn't mean they believe that because they have been "tricked" into believing it.
I'm not a Christian, and I don't feel like I have to "brain wash" Christians at all. They've done that all on their own. Someone that believes something that I don't (and vice versa) means that they believe something that I don't. That ones not hard. I don't believe there's any "tricking" involved at all.

Well, I could pose the same question to you about pagans or people that choose not to belong to any religion at all. Why is it that Christians (I'm speaking in general terms), feel they have to brainwash non-believers? My fiance's daughter (I love her so much) got mad at him and I because we aren't Christians. She them proceeded to explain how God's wrath will be on us... blah blah blah. 'Well, thanks hun. Too bad I don't believe in hell.' I didn't say that because I respect her beliefs, but is was it fair to us for her to do that?

"Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have," he added, "But do this with gentleness and respect" -1 Peter 3:15 emphases addedIt's my belief that it is people who are confussed and mislead, that stand on street corners or just where ever they are that tell people they are "going to hell" at anymoment for anything that make people "not like us"

If, by mentioning God, a person takes offense that you are imposing your beliefs upon them, that is a sign of weak morals in that person.
The more you know, the less you don't know.

It's not offensive to talk about your beliefs. It's offensive to say soemthing such as, "You're going to hell because blah blah blah...". Anyways, no one's trying to get rid of Christianity. The fact is times have changed and the US may be the most religiously diverse nation in the world, and they have to accept that. If not they wouldn't be the "Land of the Free".
