Lets say someone says they're God. Would you believe them? why or why not. What if it was God and you denied him.

I think that alot of our great Historical figures had at least SOME sort of special connection with God or something. How else would they have known/done what they did? In my religeon (Orthodox, a form of Christianity) when you take Communion on Sunday, a part or Christ goes in to you. You know, the whole "This is my blood which is shed for you and the New Testement, for the remicsian(sp?) of sins" part. Anyways, I kind of believe that. Everyone has a bit of God in them. I think we call it our "CONSCIOUS". I mean, that would sense, wouldn't it? Tells you what's right and wrong, makes you feel guilty, makes you feel good when you do something right.

You misunderstand the depth of what I said, I mean that we are meant to have a relationship with God, where we hear him speak to us, where we recognize His presence even though we can't see Him. Our relationship with God is meant to be more than an aquaintanceship. (If that's even a word.) Also, the Bible says that if we deny Jesus, then he will deny us before the Father.

First of all, I try to be kind to everyone...well, mostly just because that's the kind of person I am. I like being nice. But I'm sure at least 3% of my thinking is due to the tales that God could be a bum or someone else that you wouldn't normally treat with respect. If someone flat out told me He was God, I probably wouldn't believe Him at first. If He were really God, I would probably feel something around Him that would indicate that He really is God. That's just the way the faith works. If it were God and I denied Him, He would forgive me....but you have to see, bauhaus, that God would not do this. If He were to come down and tell someone He were God, He'd have to realize that it's very unlikely anyone would believe Him. In my opinion, it's more likely that someone would believe a bum or someone treated unkindly to be "God in disguise" then a guy saying He's God. What good would it do God to come down in the form of a human, say he's God, and have virtually no one believe him? It's only proving that people's faith in a God they can't see is stronger than a human-like God.

Interesting questions. I've often thought about this myself. If someone came up to me and said that they were God, I'd hope that there would be something else along with it to drive the point homw. You know, like an overwhelming urge to kneel down or a booming voice or aura around the person. If it was just some guy with wild eyes who did that, I'd assume they were a little wacko and walk quietly away. However, if it turned out that it was really God in that crazed person, then I'd be glad God's a forgiving being. But I'm sure you'd know if it was Him, just as most people know when they find true love. It just hits you.

well, if a god just came and was like "I am god" this diety would probably want the people who disbelieve him/her more than those who jump to his/her standerd. These are the people who do not want to make a foolish mistake in their religion, and need proof. It is quite possible that s/he would like these people who do not want to believe better. I highly doubt that, if there is a god, he would want to surround himself by people who whip hemselves twice a day and refuse to eat, all for the glory of god.

I think if God actually made an effort to "appear" to you physically or whatever you would probably know it. As for the part about God being a bum, supposedly in the past he sent angels masquerading as bums and poor folks to see how others treated them. This is kind of like old school style entrapment on God's part.

I had a teacher once who said God is that bum in the street you spit at. In other words, the person you least expect.

I believe that God is everywhere, not only in one person. I guess it really depends on your definition of 'God'.

he'd have to forgive us for not recognizing him and hopefully visit us more often.
