Thanks, ilovebush. The flyer that I received in the mail has the website to the church and an email address to contact the pastor on it. I just wrote an email to the pastor letting him know that I was interested in attending his church and I wanted to be informed of the appropriate dress code.

iamastar, I go to a comtemporary, non-demoninational Christian church. I had to same question you had in the beginning. I normally wear just jeans and a tshirt (because at my church, they could care less what you wear, they just want you to hear the lord's message), but a lot of the older members wear dresses. I dont think it really matters what you wear, just that you are actually there. If members of the church judge you on what youre fashion choices, then obviously its the wrong church to be attending...

Okay, I have a question for anyone who would like to answer it. My question is this: I recieved this flyer in the mail about this new church that's opening in the area in which I live. The flyer says it is a casual, contemporary, christian church. So here's the question: what do you where to a casual, contemporary church? I mean, do you wear something nice like a dress or do you wear slacks or jeans?

No problem. I'm glad you understand my thoughts about religion more.

What do you mean by "Lordship"?

Thanks so much, I think you have answered my questions very well and I think that I understand a little better where you're coming from.

I wonder though, what do you know about the Lordship of Jesus Christ?

Here's kinda how I see it: Every time something goes right or wonderful, I believe Jesus has given a gift to me (I thank him everyday for the people I am around and for the good day I was given). Every time something goes wrong, I believe that this is because Jesus must remind us that life is not perfect, we are not perfect, and that it is all a part of God's plan for us. I thank him for even the bad things some of the time because they have helped me learn. He really hasn't "taken" me from anywhere if you mean like a bad place in life when I was hurting. That never really happened. No one close to me has ever died (people have died, just no one really close) but I usually pray about it when someone does. There was only one incidence ever where I really asked Jesus for help in the essence that I'd done something wrong and betrayed my parents' trust. But I ask Him for help everyday, even for tests! As far as where I am now: I'm probably the most optimistic person I know which I think stems from first my good experiences in life which stem from the life Jesus has given me thus far. I'm happy, truly happy.

I don't know if I can say all the things you said but Jesus is important to me and I do believe in Him.

What I am talking about goes much deeper than anything that you can learn from church or even the bible, don't get me wrong at all, church and the bible are necessary to help you grow in Christ, but that is not what I am addressing.

As for what Christ means to you, the best way I can think of are questions like these: What has this Man Christ Jesus done for you? Where has he taken you from? And where are you now?

It might help if I tell you what He is to me:

Jesus Christ is my Lord and saviour, he is everything I live for, when I wake up and when I go to sleep he is the first and last thought on my mind. He is the air I breathe, he is the only reason that I continue living each day. This may sound like a textbook statement, but let me continue. My Jesus took me from what might have been a life in prison, and set me in the path of godly people.. He saved my life he redeemed me from who I was, I surrender my life to him alone because he deserves everything I can offer him.

These are the things that make up your proffession of Christ, it is not a thing that you memorize so that you can sound holy or religious, it is so much more than that. It is the very reasons why you follow after Him.

I hope that this helps you to understand a little bit more of what I am asking you.

Thank you for the clarification before your argument. It makes me more willing to discuss this with you, knowing you're not going to jump on me because of what some would call "warped Christian beliefs."

Someone has asked me that question before and to be honest I don't know how to answer it. I guess all I can say is that, to me, Jesus is the form of God on Earth. He is the savior. He died so that Christians can ask God for forgiveness when we sincerely ask for it. He died so that we could live in Heaven for all eternity. He taught what his Father wanted to be taught.

However, these are just facts that I know about Jesus Christ from some reading of the Bible and what is taught in church. As for how I feel and what he is to me, I don't know how to answer that. When I pray, I speak to God---I know Jesus is technically included in that (the trio---Father, Son, Holy Ghost) but for some reason, Jesus feels separate from that. In essence: I don't know.

Going to church made me become bitter. I can't stomach it to this very day.

Correct

I believe all parts of the Bible should be obeyed to some extent. And I'm definitely more for the new testament than the old testament.

I don't want to start a huge philisophical debate, I would like to keep this simple and on subject, so this question is directed at Worthwaitingfor:

According to your account of salvation, there is no need for a specific date in which you accept Christ correct?

In that case I would like to ask you a question:

Do you believe that the new testament should be obeyed or is just for philisophical learning?

I don't believe in being "saved" on a specific date. I think, if you were brought up in a Christian home and were always told about God, then you've always been saved. When people ask me, "When did you first come to know God?" I tell them that He has always been there. I can't tell you a date when I realized it. God has just always been there. I think it's a load of crock when anyone tells you, "On that special day, March 18, 1985 I was saved by our Lord, Jesus Christ." I just don't think you need a date to tell people when you began believing in God.

O.K. Cool! I'll go first. It seems like an awesome way to get to know people. Well I was born in South Dakota. My dad was in the airforce so we my family traveled a while. I was an only child til' the age 3 when my sister came along. Well, I am not exacly sure when but we moved to Metropolis, Illinois (the home of superman). At the age of six I was up in my room listening to the Donut Man and the song come into my heart. Well, my parents were downstairs so I went to talk to them and I was crying. And my Papa and Mama talked to me and asked my questions (you know to see if I really understood) and that night Jesus came into my heart. I was baptized a little while later (I don't remember when). So that's my testimony. When I was about 10 though I had doubt and started to worry that I was not saved but the Lord confirmed in my heart that I was saved to it's all good.
As for the rest of my life my parents and I moved to Peru when I was 7 (it was kinda weird but the day I got saved exactly a year later we moved to Peru). I didn't want to move to Peru but of course I didn't have a choice. But when I got there I actually loved it. When I was 10 and still living in Peru my family found out my mom had breast cancer. She could get treatment in Peru or the States. We decided to go back to the states since all our family was there to support us. So with all intentions of returning to Peru, we went to the states for mom's treatment. (ohh and before I forget a little bit before we left for the States my family adopted a 6 yr old Peruvian girl) When my mom was done with treatment we were gonna return to Peru but my parents felt that the Lord wanted us to stay in the states b/c Peru was being won over for Christ unlike the States. So now I am 15 yrs old and living in the states. I return to Peru 1 or 2 times a year. I praise the Lord that I am happy here though I miss peru alot. Sorry that was so long.

I wish I could be like my dog Cloe and fall down in complete obedience to God. - Miss Teen Illionois
