How do you honestly think you can change Gods word? Do you think you are smarter then God? Do you think you know better then God does? I don't know how you can live with yourselves knowing you tell God how to do his job.

Prayer isn't exactly "bossing god around" it's more or less thanking a divine force for the positive and asking for a change in some negative aspects. Also prayer is a form of worship. I don't know anyway that we're changing god's word by praying. Not everyone prays to god or gods anyway.

But when I talk to my best friend on the phone, she talks back. God does not talk back.

Why talk to someone who does not talk back? How do we know that He or She is really there?

What on earth are you talking about? Prayer is not a form of telling God how to do his job or that you know better than Him. Its communication, like talking to your best friend. If you talked to your best friend on the phone, what would you think if someone said "How do you honestly think you can change thier word? Do you think you are smarter than them? Do you think that you know better than they do? I don't know ho you can live with yourself!" Crazy talk, right? Indeed it is. Prayer is no more or less than chattin' with your best friend.

Stand up, get involved! Peace.

Yeah, I'll remember to do that. So all the Muslims and Buddhists and Hindus in the world, not to mention the athiests, are going to hell? Better pack warm cloths.

She can say there is no God, because obviously she does not believe in God! Contrary to popular belief, not every person is a Christian.
So if Jesus didn't die, where would we be? What would have happened? He died for me? Jesus died, yes. Everyone dies. I don't mean to attack your spirituality or religion, but not everyone believes in God or Jesus, and you shouldn't assume that they do.

Do the people in the Sudan pray? Do Iraquis pray? Did any of the people who died in 9/11 pray? If God is supposed to answer our prayers and protect us, where was he then? Where is God now? Doesn't he see what is going on?

With all that is happening in the world, I have a difficult time believing that a God is going to listen to my prayers. Or anyones, for that matter.

Yeah, I've heard many different names for him... I used to have a sheet from confirmation with all of them on... I lost it though.

I was actually raised to believe that his name is Jehovah. That is what Yahweh translates to in English. The name Jehovah actually used to be in older bibles. Psalms 83:18 for example. Slowly the name was taken out.

Well, seems that other religions Gods have names, but not the Christian God.

I remember hearing something about how he called himself 'Yahweh', so he may have a name.

Poor kittens.

Maybe prayers aren't answered because the prayers aren't being sent to the "right" God? Every religion has a God or deity that they pray too correct? Well, seems that other religions Gods have names, but not the Christian God. If you believe in the trinity you believe God and Jesus are the same. But if you don't believe in the trinity who is God? Do you just call him God? There are Gods and Goddesses, so which one do you pray to if you're not saying his/her name?

Wouldn't the Christian god have greater cares than humanity? If his hand is in everything, as the christians want me to believe, he seems pretty busy. A conundrum, I deem...

Do people actually think that if you wish for something hard enough, some great big man in the sky is going to give it to you? Why are some prayers answered, while others aren't? It just doesn't make any sense to me.

In place of prayer, I meditate. This comforts me, and helps me to feel at peace with the world.

Prayer isnt about wishing hard enough so some big man in the sky will give you what you want. Prayer is aobut having a conversation with Godand repentance. He isnt a big man in the sky. He is our provider, he gives more of what we need than what we want. What we want isnt as important in anyone's eyes(at leat it shouldnt be) than what we need.
