I think that's one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. Say someone is in bed dying from cancer and they pray and they pray, but they still die. Is that because they weren't praying "right"?

I think its cool that we have a god who died for us. If he didn't die for us we wouldn't be here today. And i'm glad that he is by my side always, and never will leave me!

Hello.
I pray often. But here's the catch. Mine actually happen.
Here's how:
First, you believe that what you're praying about will happen.
Secondly, you ask God to make it happen.
Thirdly, you wait and believe that it will happen.
Forthly, you see it manifesting before your eyes.

My proof: I was going house to house because I couldn't find a place to live close to my work, and had no transportation. I prayed for a house in a very specific neighborhood to open up. 38 days later, I signed the lease.
I live there today, and I am about to go eat food there because I am tired and need to sleep. or something.

Prayer actually works, but like anything else, you have to do it right...

Wow, I actually thought that was deep... hm.

Anyway, I never prayed. I've probably never actually said a prayer for than 5 times in my whole life. (Not counting the times that I prayed because my parents were around and expected me to. lol)

Praying just always seemed sad to me. Praying to someone/something that doesn't answer all of your prayers even though Christians fervently believes he/she does answer them. If everyone's prayers were actually answered things would be very different here wouldn't they?

I think that praying is like a baby blanket. There for comfort and it makes you feel all warm and fuzzy, but what is it really going to do for you?

we're just messing with you. (I was anyway) you can believe what you want. I believe Jesus was a roage (bad spelur) and a mortal person with an ok scense of morality and a messaih complex.

Do you think that Jesus is coming back to come get his people on the earth?

The only problem with prayer that I have is how I picture God. I do not see God as a giant man in the sky who can perform miracles. I think of God as an idea, such as love of peace. I believe in God, but not as someone you can pray to. Does anyone else feel this way?

Oh and in answer to this:

Do they actually think it will change things?

The bible says that if you ask in His name and with faith that it will happen and that He has the power to do it, then it will be given to you.

God wants us to pray because it is one thing that makes us closer to him... In praying, we talk to god and thats why there is a closer intimacy between you and Him... Its his way of reaching for us and us for reaching out to him, not just in times of need but also when we feel happy or sad or when we give thanks for all our blessings.
yes, God i powerful so he knows all the things in our minds... he knows everything. But its up to us to build that kind of relationship with him and that is by praying. God knows what we want but at times, His answer might be yes, no and maybe.... It doesnt mean tha God doesnt grant what we want, but he wants us to wait and to pray more so that you will have time for Him... Actually, what God really wants is our TIME.... for HIM.... He doesnt need long prayers or a very religious person... All he wants is for us to recognize that he should be the center of our lives and that we should consider Him as part of our lives.

"If God knows what I need then why pray in the first place?"

There are many different ways you can pray. Some pray making requests to God. Some pray giving thanks to God for what they already have, which is better. I prefer to pray "thy will be done" prayers. Instead of constantly asking for things, I pray whatever He desires for my life manifest. Because what do I really know about what I need? What good is it to pray for things that will hurt me later on? So, since God knows more about why I am here than I do, I pray His will be done in my life and not my own will. Praying this way is like reverencing Him and showing Him you exalt Him and trust Him with your life more than you trust yourself. This is what works for me. And there's a peace that comes with knowing that everything that's happening in my life is actually suppose to be happening because God is guiding me everyday. But I'm not afraid to ask of God either:

John 16:23 "...Whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you...ask and you shall receive, that your joy may be full."

John 14:14 "...If you ask anything in My name, I will do it."

In God's name ALL things are possible. He's able to do the impossible!!!
