In order to be like Christ, one must understand who Christ is. Christ's teachings and his history are all in the Bible. You can't really ask some random person who Christ is because everyone will give you slightly different answers. But if you read Christ's Word (Bible) you will have the best and most true understanding of Christ.

The greatest commandment that came from Christ, was to "love the Lord Thy God with all thy heart, with all thy soul, and with all thy mind." The second was to "love thy neighbor as thyself." (Matthew 22:37-39) Christ's definition of love:
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” (1 Corinthians 13:4-7)
Christ commanded us to love each and EVERY person in this way. Whether they be your best friend or a stranger. Love is the only answer.

Thank you all for the post. I have to agree Shade. It is about being Christlike. The next question is what was Christ like?

Being a Christian is being Christ like. There is no textbook answer to the question. Christians are saved by grace (not by words). Don't look at the Church for what the "Christian faith" is; don't look at its many shattered sections. Look at the individual. At the very base, it is knowing Christ and living like he would. It is not based on "belief" as much as it is based on love, forgiveness, truth.

Christians are defined, as it is stated in the Bible, as people who believe in Jesus Christ as their savior [who is actually God in the flesh]. Christians believe that Jesus (God) is sinless but came to die for the sins of mankind so that through having faith in Christ, our sins may be forgiven by God. God is the almighty, all-knowing creator of this world. God originally wanted his people to be good but because of sin, humans were separated from God. God completely hates sin because it poisons His world and especially His people. Because we are sinful, there is no good deed we can perform to "earn" God's forgiveness. However, by God's grace we are saved, meaning He loves us because that's just who He is. And once we profess our faith, God will do His work on us and lead us to a more righteous, fulfilling life. When we profess our faith we are filled with the Holy Spirit[God's Spirit] and then we will eventually repent, or turn away from, ALL our sins. Real Christianity is more like a relationship with Christ. Because Christ died for us, we choose to live for him. Any religion or idea that deviates from the teachings of the Bible is not real Christian doctrine because the Bible warns against "taking away" or "adding to" it. The Bible also warns about churches that slap Christ's name on their buildings but teach "lies." It is wise to use caution because not everyone who says they are "Christian" are actually a Christian in Christ's eyes.
