The Bible is choke full of scientific facts that have been confirmed by science hundreds of years later. Perhaps the reason that the Bible and confirmed science are so close is because they have a common author.

Only recently science has discovered that everything is composed of invisible atoms. Here, the Scripture tells us that the things that are appear are made by things we cannot see.
2. Medical science has only recently discovered that blood clotting in a newborn baby reaches its height on the 8th day. The Bible consistantly commands us to circumcise babies on the 8th Day.
3. Job 26:7He hangs the earth on nothing.At the same time the Bible was written, scientists believed that the earth sat on the back of a giant animal, but the Bible writes otherwise.
4. Isaiah 40:22It is he that sits upon the circle of the earth. While scientists thought that the earth was flat, the Bible wrote that it was curved like a circle.
5. Job 38:35Can you send lightnings, that they may go, and say to you, Here we are? This passage proves that the Bible knew that light could be sent and manifested into speech, something secular man did not figure out for 2,400 years.
6. Job 38:19Where is the way the light dwells? Here, the Scripture tells us that light (electromagnetic radiation) has a "way", traveling at 186,000 miles per second.

Sure some of these show something. However a majority could mean anything they are so vague. Singing stars means that they emit radiation? HA!

What you stated is essentially a theory by that "prophet." And that theory was stated first, and most famously, by Democritus in Ancient Greece. Dmocritus stated that matter is made up in indivisble particles of the smallest size, there's space between them in which they move, they vary in shape but not in make-up, and that all change is result of them bumping into each other. And this came from his natural brilliance and astute observations, not some supposed word of God.

Job 26:8 He wraps up the waters in the clouds, yet they do nut burst under their weight. Job said that, too, and that's clearly untrue.

Good for them, but serious scholars beginning with the ancient Greeks knew the world was a sphere. Not just a circle. A shpere. Eratostenes even correctly estimated the Earth's circumference in the 3rd century BC.

By the way, I'm not addressing the ones that are obviously just poetic crap. Such as examples 5, 6, and 7. That's all just fun wording. It's common knowledge that most religion came from the poets.

Humans had been relying on wind currents for centuries for nautical navigation. And they say the wind circulates according to God's "circuit"? Not so much, as the sun generates wind current. These people do not have theories on science, they have already-known facts manipulated to look as if God created them.

The same could be said for the story of Chiron in Ancient Greek mythology. Blood from the one side of a Gorgon revived life, the other side killed it. This could explain how they knew blood was directly connected to life. But this is a mere interpretation, as is yours.

Lots of poor peasants had been washing with water because water was easy to come by. The reason most people didn't up until the Bible was because it was custom to bathe in oil because it was a symbol of the rich. People who were poor washed with water, and nobody knew the difference. And even in the Bible, it doesn't state WHY water cleanses, it just says it does.

Sounds good enough to me, but again Ancient Greeks had known this already and passed the knowledge down. The Bible took most of its knowledge and a lot of its lore directly from the polytheistic religion it ridiculed, belittled, and deemed unholy.

They were proven before, and now just restated through the voice of Prophets. Although you presented a really great argument, most of the Bible's "facts" were known already, hidden by the Christians to demean Roman religion, and then exposed as new fact.

In response to Isaiah 40:22-
The <b>ancient Greeks</b> believed that the Earth was spherical.

Interesting fact: Did you know the Earth is not a sphere? It's actually an oblate spheroid, because it bulges at the equator. OK, enough pedantry from me!

First of all, I though we had all agreed that God didn't write the bible. A lot of those passages were simple observations and common sense as others have said. Science just goes about proving them with objective experiments and evidence. Another portion I suspect was sheerly poetic or coincidental.

I have no doubt that biblical aged and located people posessed wisdom about their world. Look at the great mathamatical and astronomical knowledge that many B.C.E. civilizations had and utilized. But to give the Bible or the Christian religion sole credit for this knowledge of society is ridiculous and proves nothing.

However I must also admit that science and religion/ phillosophy/spirituality have been describing many similar phenomanaes (sp?) with different words for a long time all over the world. Take Genesis and the Big Bang theory. I am reading a book right now about quantum physics and the parallels to eastern mythology. Make of it what you will, but don't jump to self righteous conclusions.

The flood covered the highest mountain tops (Mount Everest?) with fifteen cubits to spare. Where did all the water come from? Where did it all go? Why is there no evidence of such a massive flood in the geological record?



8:11 And the dove came in to him in the evening; and, lo, in her mouth was an olive leaf pluckt off: so Noah knew that the waters were abated from off the earth.

Noah sends a dove out to see if there was any dry land. But the dove returns without finding any. Then, just seven days later, the dove goes out again and returns with an olive leaf. But how could an olive tree survive the flood? And if any seeds happened to survive, they wouldn't germinate and grow leaves within a seven day period.

The earth isn't a circle, it's a sphere which is quite different seeing that as clpo said, circles can be flat. Spheres aren't.

Reactionary, it merely says that either the Bible made some lucky guesses, or (more likely) that the technology of the time prevented science from making such claims. Many of these scientific facts you claim the Bible says were impossible to prove using what people of Biblical times knew.

This, of course, could not be completely proven until the invention of the election microscope. But even so, what exactly does "things which are seen were not made of things which do appear" mean? Anything. The presence of atoms does not come readily to mind upon reading this passage.

Trial and error, my friend. The ancients found that babies circumcised eight days after birth bled considerably less than babies circumcised on any other day after birth.

It's amusing that it was religion that instilled that idea into the minds of the people. The Egyptians and Hittites believed the Earth was a reclining god. Certain Hindu tribes thought the Earth was supported by elephants (who caused earthquakes when they shifted) standing on top of a giant turtle, which symbolized Vishnu. But again, how could they prove the Earth wasn't supported by some animal?

Where do you get the speed of light (or any speed for that matter) from an obvious statement of non-movement? "Where is the way the light dwells" cannot possible be taken to mean that light has a speed. Instead, it more signifies that light comes from somewhere, as in it lives or dwells somewhere.

This is another instance of how could ancient man ever prove such a thing? They didn't have weather satellites. Nothing to indicate how the wind moved. For people of the Biblical times, how the wind felt was all they could go on. And obviously, whoever wrote the Bible was going on that. They felt the wind blow one way, and then the opposite. The wind is returning, they thought.

Of course, I can't even try to justify the obvious stupidity of bleeding people in order to cure sickness, but when the only source that says otherwise is a religious text, why would people who aren't a part of that religion believe it to be true? After all, they couldn't necessarily prove it.

You'll note that the Bible says nothing about soap. Water alone doesn't make one clean. Of course, this can just be termed one of those early Hebrew laws. When you're unclean (which, FYI, doesn't just mean dirty), only running water will make you clean, not still water. Leviticus is full of such laws. But I stress that when the Bible says "clean" and "unclean", it doesn't use them in the sense that you and I do. For instance, when I say I'm unclean, I mean I have dirt on me, or something like that. When the Bible says unclean, it can mean anything from "you just ate a pig" to "you had a wet dream".

That's one way to explain it, yes. But I've heard it more frequently explained that Jesus will appear to each person seperately in his own good time. In other words, the Second Coming is a personal thing. When Jesus appears to you on the morning subway train to work, he won't necesarily be appearing to the person in the seat next to you.

You have good facts, as usual. But it doesn't prove the presence of God(TM) anywhere, which I'm sure you were trying to do. It just proves that the writers of the Bible were a little more versed in science than the "scientists" of the age. But then, we're talking the area now known as Israel. That area wasn't exactly known for it's bright students of science. Arabia and China were the seats of knowledge in that time period, not the backwater area the Jews lived in.

Marquis de Sade wrote ahead of his time. Osho wrote ahead of his time. To say the Bible is ahead of its time is an insult to the TRUE authors that brought about controversy and wisdom because of being waaaaaay too ahead of their times.
