Well the good news is that scientists have been working on a few ideas and it turns out....god doesn't exist!

This may come as a shock but trust me now you can all get on with living your lives free from the pressures and restraints of organised religion...rejoice.

And don't worry about death, it may be bad for you but it means party time for all the worms!

Please show this message to your friends and family so they can have a chance to be saved from the misery of oppressive organised religion. In the Christian world it may save young boys from being abused by sick priests, in the Muslim world women can come out from behind their veils and in Judaism, maybe they can turn on some lights during Sabbath.

Thank you, please feel free to google some sites on the wonders of athiesm:

For anyone who missed it: this is a parody of this thread.

I would have thought that obvious, but then, not everyone is as devoted to the Spirituality section as I am.

I am an atheist myself, but I do not think that you have to tell people that god is not real, any more or less that those who believe in god have to tell us that he (or she) is. Be respectful of others' beliefs. although I think that there is overwhelming evidence that there is no god, others think the exact opposite. And I respect their beliefs, and I think that together, we can reach a consensus, because I know for a fact that the bible is not all myth, as many of my religious friends and family members know that it is not 100% truth. (although i know that many do not share this belief.) and, I think that the fact that you show alcohol, drugs and sex as symbols of atheism is horrible, and sets a bad image for the rest of us, who want to maintain a respectable image. your labeling others' beliefs as myth is as bad as them labeling us as sinners condemned to torture for eternity.

How is rejecting the concept of God progress? Are you suddenly going to cure cancer and solve the energy crisis, or are you just going to stand around feeling superior?

Then how does the bumblebee fly? Who told the first bumble bee to fly? How can we be more sure that there isn't a God when there is an equal chance that there is?

I wish someone had cared enough to share this with me

I must go share it with others!

Science was not wrong. One man, arriving at a faulty conclusion based on incomplete data, was wrong.

quote:

One set of accounts suggests that the story first surfaced in Germany in the 1930s. One evening at dinner, a prominent aerodynamicist happened to be talking to a biologist, who asked about the flight of bees. To answer the biologist's query, the engineer did a quick "back-of-the-napkin" calculation.

To keep things simple, he assumed a rigid, smooth wing, estimated the bee's weight and wing area, and calculated the lift generated by the wing. Not surprisingly, there was insufficient lift. That was about all he could do at a dinner party. The detailed calculations had to wait. To the biologist, however, the aerodynamicist's initial failure was sufficient evidence of the superiority of nature to mere engineering.

...

The persistence of the bumblebee myth also highlights a misunderstanding about science, models, and mathematics. The real issue isn't that scientists can be wrong. The real issue is that there's a crucial difference between a "thing" and a mathematical model of the "thing."

...

So, no one "proved" that a bumblebee can't fly. What was shown was that a certain simple mathematical model wasn't adequate or appropriate for describing the flight of a bumblebee.

Insect flight and wing movements can be quite complicated. Wings aren't rigid. They bend and twist. Stroke angles change. New, improved models take that into account.

kharybdis with the scientist disagrees.

I noticed they could not say they made a mistake instead they said: A well-known myth says that scientists once proved that bumblebees should not be able to fly.

very interesting. science was wrong.

The more science tries to prove God doesn't exist the more they do.

Scientists also say that the bumble bee isn't suppose to fly. Cause I believe they say the wings are to small for their bodies.

According to. the laws of aerodynamics, the bumble bee is not supposed to be able to fly.
Science disagrees.
