As a child I had faith in Santa. He kept me from doing bad things, if I did bad I'd be punished for it, if I did good I'd be rewarded. All the stories about him, made him seem very real also. As I got older, and lost my innocence and passed into my life now, I realized a lot of things were told to me to keep me inline, even though they didnt exist. How can I believe in God now when I've been decived by adults in the passed?

I think many people do believe in a god, but not always the Christian god, etc. But from my experience, most Christians that I have personally talked to (outside of YN) regard athiesm and everything that's not Christian as the same thing... But, again, many people (me for instance) don't believe in a hell, and believe that if you are going to be judged, you will be judged based on your actions and not your belief in a god... so, just some thoughts ponder... But, that is a good point...I have often thought about that. Especially when I was only Christian because I was afraid of a hell at that point...

blind faith. you cant find a website, book (except Bible of course) or document that says that God is 100% real. Christians go on blind faith on believing there is an almighty being. gotta have faith...

I'll probably go check out the other thread (how come I've never seen it before?), but I'll answer here too: you can't. There is no way you can prove the presence of a Divine Being of some sort. On the other hand, you can't disprove it either. I personally believe in a Creator (not to be confused with the God of the Bible), but only because the Universe is too complex to have just happened by random. DNA, the Divine Proportion, a whole wealth of things.
The more you know, the less you don't know.

I'm with wavemaster, use that thread.

There is no sure way to know if god is real... even for those people who claim that god speaks to them, could just be imagining it, or have psychological problems (i.e. their need for attention makes them hear a voice who is extremely loving and whom they can trust...). But, there is no sure way to know, but I guess that's why they call it faith... Oh, and they'll definately use the argument, "Well, you can't see the wind, but you know it exists, or electricity"... But, there is no surefire way to prove that god exists...
