Question:
I personally believe in religious pluralism, but after reading certain posts in the Spirituality section, it makes me wonder what the public opinion is about this. So,

What do you believe the one, true religion on Earth is?

Discuss.

Choices:
Christianity (not including Catholicism)
Catholicism
Judaism
Islam
Other (note below)

Whoa! Did I read that right? The Dead Sea scrolls were written from around 335 BCE to roughly 68 CE, when the Essenes were annihilated by the Romans.

Plus, many of the documents I was talking about did not decompose, rather they were destroyed.

Depends. There is a man who people claim is the next most dangerous human being since Jesus, and he's doing fine. I read some of his books and they're better than the Bible, quite frankly. His name is Osho.

By that I meant if he existed today.

The one true religion is different for everyone. It's pretty confusing to study religious history on school or in a class, because what it says in say, The Torah, or the Bible, or another religious text, will have similarities but also differences from what historians wrote at the time. This is pretty sad, but if Jesus or someone like him started saying that he was the son of God, he would probably get locked up and labled "dangerous".

I was using clpo's words against him. He said something about documents decomposing that were that old. The Dead Sea scrolls were around 600 b.c. and he was talking about documents before then.

It was a bit spiteful of me, I'm afraid. Apologies.

is there really such thing as a true religion? a religion is a set of beliefs...your set of beliefs. If u believe in one or more diety fine...good for you, if you believe that there is one holy land...that cannot be shared(??)...perfectly fine with me (i personally think your crazy, but who am i to judge your beliefs) Everyone's personal beliefs differ extraordinarily which is why there are countless religions that accomodate your beliefs. Not to mention you can always make your own as long as you follow state/provinical laws.

i think there is no one true religion. at least i feel that way. i would feel extremely arrogant to say i stummbled upon the one religion. as long as you are doing good, and being nice i think that is all that matters.

I'm not sure theres exactly one right religion. I believe a religion has to have specific believes that are in harmony with what the bible says. But I think more than anything that what religion a person is doesn't matter as long as they have the love of God in their heart. After all religion is all about God and our personal relationship with him, rigth?

I honestly don't think that there is one true real religion. I think that just as along as you are out there living through your religion, than that is the one for you.

I have not yet reached my goal, and I am not perfect. But Christ has taken hold of me. So I keep on running and struggling to take hold of the prize. My friends, I don't feel that I have already arrived. But I forget what is behind, and I struggle for wha

I belive other in this case beacsue Islam and christianinty are all off shoots of judeism and both of those have off shoots from their but if you look closely you will see the fact that alot of religons have ties to the other even asian religons in some respects have ties to judeic religons so I belive in the end live well and you'll find out when you die

How would you know, if you weren't LDS? Mormonism does qualify as Christianity, because we believe that Christ is the Son of God, our Savior, and Redeemer.

Who said I wasn't? Don't make such broad assumptions. Mormonism is not Christianity. The Book of Mormon contradicts The Bible dozens of ways, that's not too hard to figure out. Not to mention priests practice pagan rituals inside the temple in Utah, and I know that from an ex-Mormon priest. And we can't forget polygamy, can we? Mormonism said it was fine when the Bible forbids it. Mormonism does not qualify as a denomination of Christianity.

Haven't the documents from that era or before turned to dust?

Also, if this was known, is there only one book talking about this topic? Only one source of info for the book?

Never heard of the dead sea scrolls? Nothing decomposes when there is no water in the air.

By the way, we do qualify as Christian, and we do observe God as our God. Not Mormon. Whoever started that was misinformed/ignorant. Thank you.

I think there is reason to believe that "Asherah" was "El"'s mate in the Caananite religion. There is much in the Bible (especially in 1 Kings) about the trying to get rid of Asherah poles, idols, etc.

Why would Israel try getting rid of Asherah if they believed in her?

If there is one "true" religion, there's no real way to know which one it is (aside from dying). I know there is a God (I cannot give you verifiable proof, I just know), and I choose to believe it's the Christian God, but until I die, I won't know for sure. It'd be the same if I believed in any other divine entity. But since wondering which one it is when I should be carrying out the work of my Lord (or any Lord) won't get me anywhere spiritually, I just choose to believe.
