I foun this on a board i frequent and wondered what yall would think?

Here it is:

Recently a flyer from a local church was sent around with this message, here it is in full.

If Your Child is a Gothic, Reform Through the Lord!
Listed below are some warning signs to indicate if your
child may have gone astray from the Lord.

Gothic (or goth) is a very obscure and often dangerous
culture that young teenagers are prone to participating in. The gothic culture leads young, susceptible minds into an imagined world of evil, darkness, and violence. Please seek immediate attention through counselling, prayer,
and parental guidance to rid your child of Satan's temptations if five or more of the following are applicable to your child:

-Frequently wears black clothing.
-Wears band and/or rock t-shirts.
-Wears excessive black eye makeup, lipstick or nailpolish.
-Wears any odd, silver jewelry or symbols. Some of these include:
reversed crosses, pentagrams, pentacles, ankhs or various
other Satanic worshipping symbols.
-Shows an interest in piercings or tattoos.
-Listens to gothic or any other anti-social genres of
music. (Marilyn Manson claims to be the anti-Christ, and publicly speaks
against the Lord. Please discard any such albums IMMEDIATELY.)
-Associates with other people that dress, act or speak
eccentrically.
-Shows a declining interest in wholesome activities, such
as: the Bible, prayer, church or sports.
-Shows an increasing interest in death, vampires, magic,
the occult, witchcraft or anything else that involves Satan.
-Takes drugs.
-Drinks alcohol.
-Is suicidal and/or depressed.
-Cuts, burns or partakes in any other method of self-mutilation. (This is a Satanic ritual that uses pain to detract from the light of God and
His love. Please seek immediate attention for this at your local mental health center.)
-Complains of boredom.
-Sleeps too excessively or too little.
-Is excessively awake during the night.
-Dislikes sunlight or any other form of light. (This pertains to
vampires promoting the idea that His light is of no use.)
-Demands an unusual amount of privacy.
-Spends large amounts of time alone.
-Requests time alone and quietness. (This is so that your child may speak to evil sprits.)
-Insists on spending time with friends while unaccompanied by an adult.
-Disregards authority figures; teachers, priests, nuns and
elders are but a few examples of this.
-Misbehaves at school.
-Misbehaves at home.
-Eats excessively or too little.
-Eats goth-related foods. Count Chocula cereal is an example of this. (COUNT CHOCULA CEREAL MEANS YOU COMMUNICATE WITH THE DEVIL ?)
-Drinks blood or expresses an interest in drinking blood.
(Vampires believe this is how to attain Satan. This act is very dangerous and should be stopped immediately.)
-Watches cable television or any other corrupted media
sources. (Ask your local church for proper programs that your child may watch.)
-Plays videos games that contains violence or role-playing nature.
-Uses the internet excessively and frequently makes time for the computer.
-Makes Satanic symbols and/or violently shakes head to music.
-Dances to music in a provocative manner.
-Is homosexual and/or bisexual.
-Pursues dangerous cult religions. Such include: Satanism, Scientology, Philosophy, Paganism, Wicca, Hinduism and Buddhism.
-Wears pins, stickers or anything else that contains these various phrases: "I'm so gothic, I'm dead", "woe is me", "I'm a goth".
-Claims to be a goth.

If five or more of these apply to your child, please intervene immediately. The gothic culture is dangerous and Satan thrives within it. If any of these problems persist, enlist your child into your local mental health center.

I for one totally agree with this! The Gothic subculture is evil and corrupts the minds and bodies of the young. I myself almost fell prey to this evil group, many of my friends have, but I luckily was saved. I urge everyone here not to hate Gothics but to pity them, they are in need of help, they must be saved from themselves and the vile persuasion of Evil. What your views on this satanic culture hiding in plain sight?

-----------------------------------------
i personally find it all to be a load of crap.

Even though I haven't found that flyer on the Landover Baptist parody site, the more I think about it, that's probably where it's from. Not that I'd be overly suprised if this is for real.

I think anyone from the ages of 12-18 could be considered goth in some sense of the word by these standards.

I am very much a Christian and I also find this little piece of literature Hilarious. I am a goth by these standards and so is almost every person I know. The person or group of people who put out this flyer are not being christians by doing this, and they don't understand anything of the nature of the youth today.

You can't really say that it's any church's fault that society has gone bad. There's plenty of blame to spread all around.
And it's not human nature to rebel against authority. Eventually, you'll grow out of that line of thought. The need to rebel stems from the desire to be in the best situation you can be in. However, when you are young, the only thing you can do is rebel. Later in life, you'll learn about how to make things better without dissention.

this is judgement
churches shouldn't be here to judge
churches r supposed to be a place where people can find the living God and embrace that
churches were made to tell them there's something so much better than the life ur living now
everything in society has gotten so curupt.... i heard around.... (?)20 percent of preachers have molested a child.... if u ask me... that's sad.... society is craving on drugs, sex, annd violence.....
and truthfully it's prolly all the churches fault....
if the churches wouldn't have strarted judging and being so apathetic
people wouldn't want to rebell against it..
it is human nature to rebel from what people say they can and can't do...
it's just stuff
this flyer is making teenagers even more eager to rebel then before
man i wish everyone had a church exactly like mine
this is exactly how they think.... our church is right next door to a bar... and we were so excited cause we could reach to people without judgement and persecution

You know how in middle school, you're finding your own personal style and all that jazz (among many other life changing types of things)?

So one day this girl says, "I hear you're turning Goth." You want to know why? Because I was wearing a T-shirt with a band I liked on it (and it happened to be a black T-shirt) and because I had suddenly discovered the comfort of walking in a pair of Converse. I was wearing what I liked not trying to be Goth or punk or anything else. Just myself.

It's getting to the point of ridiculous when people are going to accuse you of turning into a label.

Shows an interest in piercings or tattoos.
-Complains of boredom.(ha i always do this!)
-Sleeps too excessively or too little.(homework)

-Disregards authority figures; teachers, priests, nuns and
elders are but a few examples of this.(well maybe the teacher is mean to me! ha!)
-Misbehaves at school.(every kid does)
-Misbehaves at home.(every kid does)

Basically yr saying we're all the same. We're not and some days we do wear different colors than black. I mean not that often but some do. I'm jus' tired of the Steriotypes. That's all. I am srry to offend you.

He's not making fun of your spelling. He's trying to tell you that it sucks and you should learn it. Also, he's not saying that all of you are the same, he's saying that you all dress the same. Saying that one is the same as another, is saying that they think, dress, and/or act alike. No one is that way. Get over it.

I am my own person, and how cliche it sounds when those are the same words that spout out of the mouths of the ones I despise. They may dress like me, but they do not act like me, they do not think like me, and they do not appreciate the things I do.

Rebellion, non-conformism, individuality. These are all the things these supposed goths represent, and yet they all flock together with there chains rattling against their shins, their Psychopathic record necklaces adorning their necks, and their Slipknot shirts hanging two sizes too big. They listen to heavy metal and flock together to make fun of the chavs and ones that despise them.

These people disgust me, often the ones that people think of when referring to a goth, and with which I wish no association. I may have black fingernails. I may wear dress slacks, shoes, a shirt tucked in with a belt, all black - and so am immediately grouped with the goths. But I appreciate classic literature, architecture, and music. Rachmaninoff and Schumann alike adorn my shelves with the works of Poe and Plato. Unlike the 'goths' of today, I could tell you the difference between gothic and romantic structures. I am much different from the ones so characteristically called goth. But because of the way I dressed, I was shunned from the Church, to never again return.

Basic rule of gothic society - if you claim you are on, you most likely aren't.

Jenos, I adore that post. I love it. If only because I have been trying to say something about all labels on similar threads and have failed to get the message through to anyone. Your post put it perfectly.

Not only do I despise the label goth but all others as well. If I wear what I want to wear, I could fit a different label every single day of my life...and since I do wear whatever I like, that's the way it is.

Meaning? I respect your opinion, just like I do everyone else.

I simply stated that you need to check your spelling before you post. It is an easy task.

As far as I know, that was no insult.

I have twice as many as the required amount to be labeled a Goth. I guess I'm eternally damned to hell and I must be chucked into a mental health center.
