It some ways, northstar. I've always thought that it's a very pretty temple. My parents were married in the Jordan River, Utah temple. Picture: http://ldschurchtemples.com/images/wallpaper/daylight/jordan_river.jpg

My personal favorite (in looks): Columbia River Washington http://ldschurchtemples.com/images/wallpaper/daylight/columbia_river.jpg

The one that I commonly attend: Seattle Washington http://ldschurchtemples.com/images/wallpaper/daylight/seattle.jpg

The oldest one (I think. Correct me if I'm wrong): St. George Utah http://ldschurchtemples.com/images/wallpaper/daylight/saint_george.jpg

UNDER CONSTRUCTION:
Curitiba Brazil Temple
Helsinki Finland Temple
Panamá City Panamá Temple
Rexburg Idaho Temple
Sacramento California Temple

ANNOUNCED BUT NOT YET BEGUN:
Draper Utah Temple
Harrison New York Temple
Kiev Ukraine Temple
Southwest Salt Lake Valley Temple
Twin Falls Idaho Temple
West Salt Lake Valley Temple

Jenos, apology accepted. I got rather hot-headed about that whole argument, and I'm glad you've realized what a fraud that man is. Yes, he's totally off his cracker, and he is spreading bad rumors about many religions that in their essence are not a Satan.

I offer a formal apology to hubbabaloo.

I did a bit more research into this William Schnoebelen character, and found out that he is a total fraud.

He has published other 'books' also claiming how Wicca is of Satan, and coincidentally many of his argument contained in the aforementioned publication on the evils of Mormonism were exactly the same.

I no longer give any credit to this 'ex-Mormon priest' and renounce all belief that I had in him.

I apologize.

Reallynow, I'm LDS too. I know we don't practice polygamy. However, some break offs from the church still do. The Latter Day Saints, for one, also known as the Fundamentalist Mormons.

We, the Mormons, are the Latter-day Saints. It's insane! Just make sure you spell it right. Latter Day Saints are polygamists, Latter-day Saints are not. I'm not kidding. lds.org is the Latter-day Saints. http://www.strangite.org/Welcome.htm is the Latter Day Saints. There's a huge difference, and it causes a lot of confusion.

What are you talking about Hub? In our relgion we don't practice polygimy! It was something we did along time ago.

And LDS_girl I am a Latter Day Saint. And I have done alot of the stuff your friends have done. I am persoanlly betting that i have done more but I have found my someone special that I want to share everything with and she has gotten me to clean up my act. So it is good that you havent broken yet. I am telling you that it is hard to change the way you have lived for awhile. Leave it at it is better to never start. So good job.

I know the feeling. But please try to use proper English. It's painful to the eyes sometimes when everything's without punctuation and without proper capitalization. Welcome to the boards though. Smile

We, as in the LDS are the Latter-day Saints.

I just learned that. I didn't know it made a difference before.

@sky_eyes and ampmaster Don't get me wrong. We believe that Christ's death was important. But the atonement itself was in the Garden of Gethsemane. He atoned for our sins there. He bled from every pore there. He suffered the pain of sins there. Perhaps he bore the hardest pain of out sins, the mental pain there. Perhaps both. Calvary sealed it as final.

I suppose you could call Calvary part of the atonement, but it was really the sealing ordinance. Gethsemane was the Pain part. (Matthew 26 and Mark 14)

Yes, the crucifixion was important and it's very spiritual...but the Garden of Gethsemane...it's just...WOW!

And the resurrection's even more...WOW!

I believe that Christ is the Savior of the World. I believe that Christ is the only one who could do this. But yes, He did for the whole world. But more importantly, in the Garden of Gethsemane, He did it for me. Think of it this way. It's known in the Mormon religion that Christ atoned for all of us individually. Just as in the Mormon religion each ordinance is performed personally (even for those who have already passed on), the atonement would be as well. It's a common Mormon understanding (though not a KNOWN thing, that it's very probable that time stopped. He didn't say, "I'm going to do it for all the American's between the years of 1600 and 1700 now." He did person by person. "Now I will do it for Mary Smith. Now I will do this for John Brown."

It was individual.

Christians focus in Yeshua's death, b/c it is a very important part of the Chritian religion. This is b/c he died for our sins and saved us, so that we all have a 2nd chance. And in the Bible, we do honor Jesus/Yeshua /w his many teachings. It's called the New Testement. Sorry if I sound kinda rude, just trying to explain myself. Smile

I know we don't focus on it totally depending on where we are in the liturgical year but yes we must always remeber that for us he stooped to our level and died as a meer man for us He loved us so much that He The Son of God died for us he made the ultimate sacrifice for us those that betrayed him he could have called down a host of angels to take his place but instead he took our place.

yeah many noncatholic Christian churches do not show the crucifix or when they do the corpus on the crucifix (christ's body on the cross)

I thought this topic had died.

Anyways, yes I can. It's because, though Christ did die for the sins of the world, the most important thing that he did was he was resurrected and the atonement itself. Thus, we do not dwell on his death, but on the atonement and the resurrection.

The atonement took place in the Garden of Gethsemane. Not on Calvary. That sealed it, yes, but the atonement itself took place in Gethsemane. So, why do we dwell on Calvary?

There's more to it than believing in Christ, darling.

I can't remember where that is from, though.

Those that did marry in the temple and lived worthily, will live together as husband & wife and have children in heaven and live as a family.
When in a discussion of who will be married to the widow upon the ressurrection, Jesus said, "At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven." (Matthew 22:30)
