I am going to make this as simple as possible,

Why, (if you call yourself a Christian) why do we continue to put ourselves first. When we should be following Christ's example, who according to the scriptures was The servant of all. He never tried to force His way on anyone else, and never tried to make a name for himself. The bible says He made himself of no reputation even though he was equal to God.

My question is this, Where is this mentality and these type of actions in our lives?

Jesus never threatened anyone.

*sighs* this is WHAT I was doing for the past years I have been here in YN.... Don't I preach and spread the Good news of the Lord? I am following that I should forget all about myself and be a servant to all by being selfless and that I should extend my care to everyone so that they would turn to righteousness. But yeah, a question: Why is it so difficult to do what is right? and good? and righteous?

I don't think it counts when you call atheists evil and denounce gay marriage as if it is the Devil's doing. Jesus never intended for his beliefs to be forced down our throats. It was to be spread gently. Tell someone about it and let them make their own opinions. Not "Believe in God or else I'm gonna have Big Tony make a visit to you."

yes, I know that but that doesn't mean that just because God will forgive us, we should just ABUSE his forgiveness and keep on sinning and not try to lessen our sins by trying to do what is righteous. Sometimes, I really get frustrated because I always try to help out and yet they just shrug it off or something.

Again, it is impossible for any human, Christian or not, to not commit sin. No one can be as perfect as Christ. We can do actions and say things that are so-called "Christ-like" but we can never be as perfect as Him.

That being said, anyone who volunteers for a good cause is being a "servant" and helping others. Even if you just do something I will loosely call a "good deed" that's being a good "neighbor." I don't think this mentality is completely lost. I'm only 15 so I still put myself first, mostly because I'm too immature to see any way how. But when I get a chance, I try to put others first and hopefully this will increase as I grow more mature.

It's not lost...just hidden.

Very good question. We shouldn't hate each other but it seems to be a part of human nature. We should love one another as Christ loved us. However, these seems so hard to do in today's society which is why we need to take that challeng and treat others in the way we would like to be treated. Cool

As for what's happened, people have gotten too self-centered. No surprise there. It's been happening since the beginning of time. Cavemen stole meat from other cavemen. Kings of the Middle Ages waged war on other kings in order to get their land. Now, people resort to hacking bank accounts and knocking people down in their haste. It's a "one for one and everyone else for themselves" mentality. It's simply too "hard" to be nice. Why go out of your way to help an old lady across the street when you could get across five times faster on your own? Why sacrifice half a minute of your time to let someone else go ahead of you in line? Because people view life as being too fast and too short for that. They have to do everything so quickly as if the world is going to end in the next five minutes. That is where it went. However, we can still do our little bit by doing nice things for others even at the expense of our precious time and money.

We shouldn't put our selves first. Of course many times we do. All through out history humans have put them selves first. It is sad that Christians can be so selfish (me included)

Oppurtunities to be christ-like arise daily. You can follow christ's lead by helping someone carry groceries to their car, giving to the needy, or even just being there for someone whom needs company.
As for forcing his way on other people, Jesus did get aggresive on moneychangers, demons, and israelite priests.
