The upside down cross and upside down pentagram are the two most commonly known symbols associated with satanism.

I'm short on time so I only skimmed over the posts so I don't know if this is already in there but many people think a pentagram is a satanic symbol but it isn't it is a wiccan symbol. I guess that is because many people consider wicca satanic worship.

Read The Da Vinci Code. You learn quite a bit about Pagan symbols and their origins.

"In his house at R'lyeh dead Cthulhu waits dreaming."

As far as I know it's just a language that H.P. Lovecraft made up.

I was just responding to YouthVoice's original question; it's a partial explanation of the pentagram.

I agree with half. The Gothic part, but not the US part.

Karybdis, what's your quote mean? (if anything at all)

quote:
Satanic use of the pentagram

Satanists use the Pythagorean pentagram (one point down) inscribed in a double circle, with the head of Baphomet inside the pentagram. They use it much the same way as the Pythagorenas - after all, Tartaros does mean Hell in Christian teminology (the word is used as such in the Bible, referring to the place where the fallen angels are fettered). The pythagorean Greek letters are most oftenly replaced by the Hebrew letters לויתן forming the name Leviathan. Less esoteric Satanists (LaVeyan types; the ones that exist in abundance) merely use it as a sign of rebellion.

The one I saw didn't have a circle. So it doesn't mean anything at all...just supposed to look cool?

Yes, I rather like this God fellow. He's very theatrical, you know, a pestilence here, a plague there. Omnipotence. Gotta get me some of that. -snow circle -

Oh, I was wondering about that the other day - if the one with the heart meant anything special or if it was just a play on the satanic pentagram.
