One major debate that has gone on within Christianity is whether or not Jesus was actually God. Some people argued that Jesus was in some way subordinate to God, as evidenced by the name "Son of God" and the constant referral to God as "the Father". Others think that Jesus was God made flesh, as it is said in the beginning words of the Gospel of John: "...and the Word was made flesh...". However, which is true? To investigate this, I particularly pay attention to the words of Jesus himself. On the cross, he is reported to have said, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" Surely when he said that, he wasn't talking to himself. Obviously, he was lamenting his crucifixion to a higher being. Also, when asked about the Judgement Day, he admitted that nobody knew the day and hour of it, "not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only." There is a distinct separation there, unless you're of the mind that Jesus had a split personality. Finally, when he said to the disciples that "the Father is greater than I" he meant it. Jesus was not one to fib. Besides, one must look at this with common sense. Why would God descend to Earth and become a human, suffer as a human, and die as a human? Who would run the Universe if He was busy mucking around on Earth being crucified by Romans? Jesus was merely human, although most likely "special" in some way. In conclusion, I have found more than enough evidence to show me that the man named Jesus was a regular human being, albeit one with incredibly good morals.

i know u may feel the need to argue the theory on this but as far as christian doctrine goes... Jesus is God. It's called the trinity. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. They are all the same entitiy. And the church doesn't really dispute on it. Most churchs you go into will tell you Jesus is God.

Thank you. I know from experience that religion is a touchy subject that deserves both tact and good information. It's tough to keep up a good argument with someone if they think you're insulting their faith.

The same could be said for simple death, where there is no afterlife. Heaven and hell are not necessarily the only two options. What happens after death is both unknown and unknowable, for you must die in order to find out.

the piont in having eternal life with Christ, is that when you go to heaven, you are at rest, & there is no more tears, suffering r pain. if you don't go to heaven when you die, you go to hell, and yes, it is real, it is the place of eternal torment. therefore, i do not wish to talk about hell. of corse what you believ is your dicision. i just hope that God's orge(greek for righteous wrath) is appeased. Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God."
